“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are enduring us, Your church, with Your power so that the nations, peoples, tongues and tribes must be reconciled with You. Your word must be communicated through us with clarity, conviction, and power. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
Acts 2:2-4 “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”. The disciples were to wait in Jerusalem, till they are endued with the power of the Holy Spirit. They would then be His witnesses, for the nations to repent and receive remission of their sins. Luke 24:46-49 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, (47) and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (48) And you are witnesses of these things. (49) Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
The heart of God is that man and creation should be reconciled with Him. The church is to communicate the pain of God to the nations of the world. When they were baptised with the Holy Spirit, there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. The tongue represents the process through which the agony of God is communicated to a world that is rejecting God. Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, (20) and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. The tongue or communication has a key part in the unleashing of the power of God to break the resistance and win people to God. God gives us utterance through His Holy Spirit.
Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— (7) saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” The Lord is calling nations to worship Him. The Lord does not want anyone to be cast into everlasting destruction but longs to bring people into everlasting dominion. Therefore, the everlasting gospel must be shared with every language group on the face of the earth. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. The Gospel will be preached in all the nations as a witness. This is the purpose of the manifestation of the baptism of the Holy Spirit by speaking in different tongues.
Isaiah 6:1-8 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. (2) Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. (3) And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”(4) And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. (5) So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” (6) Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. (7) And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” (8) Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” There is something exceptional about the tongue. Prophet Isaiah felt terribly unclean before the Lord and he also saw people as unclean before the Lord. God cleansed his lips and he was sent to speak God’s word to the people, with power.
When the baptism of the Holy Spirit took place, it was the tongue that needed to be healed. Great power is unleashed when the tongue comes under the control of God and God uses us to reach nations for Him. When we stand before the holiness and majesty of God, our tongues are released to worship Him as we ought. For we are undone before God and we need God to cleanse our lips.
“The church has to be might witnesses to bring people to the feet of Jesus.”
