Express the wonderful works of God to the nations – Acts 02:01-13 – Filled with the Holy Spirit – Bible reading: Psalms 96:3-7

22nd Jul 25 | 08:53

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are calling us to make known to the world Your wonderful works.  We need not hesitate or be reticent, for we are sharing the wonderful works of God.  We are not talking about ourselves but we declare to the world Your wonderful works. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Acts 2:11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” This is the task of His church. We are here to speak of the wonderful works of God to the nations. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Our lives are a testimony to the wonderful works of God. We share of His kingdom life that we are experiencing. God has brought us into His habitat and we experience His Shalom or eternal flourishing. Our tongues are released to express His wonderful works.

Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

We are not to be ashamed of God and His wonderful works in this evil world.  We hear people talking of ideologies and ways of life that only give temporal relief but will not give them the fullness of life. Yet, we as His church, seem restrained to declare to the world, God’s wonderful works.

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

We rejoice to talk of the wonderful works of God and we do not hold back.

Psalms 96:3-7 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. (4) For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. (5) For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens. (6) Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. (7) Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the LORD glory and strength.

We are free to share with the nations, all that the Lord has done and who He is.  This is the task of His church.  The works of God are demonstrated in us, by miracles, signs, and wonders.

Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

God is witnessing Himself through His works and through signs, which He demonstrates through His church. Therefore, when the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifested through His church, it is to declare to the world, His wonderful works. The signs and miracles are not to give glory to ourselves but these are a display of His wonderful works through His church.

I Corinthians 12:4-11 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. (5) There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. (6) And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. (7) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: (8) for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, (9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, (10) to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. (11) But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

These gifts are given to each one according to God’s will. They are given for the profit of all and as these gifts are manifested through His church, we declare to the world the wonderful works of God.

I Corinthians 12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

“All these gifts are expressions of the wonderful works of God, which we make known, with freedom, to the nations of the world.”

As the disciples made known the wonderful works of God, the people gathered there responded, and we read that they entered the habitat of God.
