“Lord Jesus, thank You because You have provided us with the forgiveness of our sins. In Your name, we pray. Amen.”
Acts 3:19-21 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, (20) and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, (21) whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
The law of Moses could not justify us before God but because we are forgiven by what Jesus has accomplished for us, which we appropriate by faith, we are justified before God.
Acts 13:38-39 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; (39) and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
God was providing a full and complete solution for the predicament of man in Jesus Christ. Since Jesus has provided the solution for man, it is necessary for man to believe (surrender of our will) in Christ and receive forgiveness of our sins.
Acts 10:42-43 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. (43) To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
This is our commission as His disciples. We are to share with the world this blessed hope that repentance and remission of our sins are in Jesus alone.
Luke 24:46-49 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, (47) and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (48) And you are witnesses of these things. (49) Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
To accomplish this task of sharing this message to the world, we have been endued with His Holy Spirit.
Let us have a deeper understanding of what Jesus has accomplished for us. John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
The identity of Jesus is that He is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world and slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of *the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
It is the blood of Jesus shed on the cross through which we have forgiveness for our sins. Ephesians 1:7-8 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (8) which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,
The writer to the Hebrews gives us a clear understanding of how the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sins.
Hebrews 9:22-28 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (23) Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. (24) For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; (25) not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— (26) He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. (27) And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, (28) so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
Jesus, through His blood, has brought us into a New Covenant relationship with God.
Hebrews 9:11-15 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. (12) Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. (13) For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, (14) how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (15) And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Let us always worship and thank God for His forgiveness and His New Covenant.
