19 – Sun26May2024 – *Comfort of the Holy Spirit* - _Acts 09:23-31_ – SAUL’S EARLY MINISTRY – _John 14:18_

_Acts 9:31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord *and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit*, they were multiplied._

The churches walked in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit assures us of our eternal inheritance in Christ. _Ephesians 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, (14) who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory._

We must not grieve the Holy Spirit for He is the guarantee of our eternal inheritance. _Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption._ The more we walk in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, we will enjoy the freedom that we belong to Christ and nothing can come against us.

*The Holy Spirit is our comforter. Are you experiencing the comfort of the Holy Spirit?*

We usually confine the Holy Spirit more to the demonstration of power, signs, wonders, miracles, and evidences. All of these are true but we must all learn to move in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. He strengthens us and enables us to face and overcome all situations and circumstances in the glory of God.

_II Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18)  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image *from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord*._

The Lord told the disciples that He would soon go to the Father. _(John 14:28)_. They were filled with sorrow when they heard that He would leave them. He told them that He would not leave them as orphans or those without a Comforter. _John 14:18-20 *I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you*. (19)  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. (20)  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you._

The Comforter, the Holy Spirit in us will affirm that Jesus is in the Father, we in Him and They in us. The Comforter will assure us that we belong to God even as we live in this world that is against God. Therefore, the Comforter’s presence in us is the greatest blessing that we have from Jesus.

This was the reason why the Lord told the disciples that it was for their advantage that He go away for then the Comforter would come and He would fulfil His role on earth. _John 16:6-7 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. (7)  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: *for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you*._

We are in the era of the unique role of the Holy Spirit on earth. The role of the Holy Spirit the Comforter. He is the one who moves in each of us individually and He moves in us as the church. We are therefore knit together in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. We must give ourselves wholeheartedly to the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

There is no apprehension or fear or anxiety or depression in the Holy Spirit. He takes away all of these things. He replaces all of these with His comfort. We are fully rested in God because the Holy Spirit gives us comfort.

The Comforter is the one who makes us distinct from the world. The world is not able to understand how we are so secure and rested in all the din and chaos. The difference in us is the Comforter. _John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (17) Even the Spirit of truth; *whom the world cannot receive*, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you._

We operate in the world in the fullness of the Holy Spirit for we know that He is the One who makes the difference in us. Since we operate in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the world will be convicted of sin, of righteousness, and judgment. That is what the Holy Spirit will do from within us. _John 16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:_

Our prayer life as the people of God will be special for the Holy Spirit will enable us to pray as ought. _Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (27)  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God._

```Are you living in the comfort of the Holy Spirit?```
