01 Acts 13 01-03 THE COMMISSIONING OF BARNABAS AND PAUL 11 Acts 13 02 Separated to bring the Gospel
11 – Tue, 25 Feb 2025 – *Separated to bring the Gospel* - _Acts 13:01-03_ – THE COMMISSIONING OF BARNABAS AND PAUL – _Romans 10:13-15_
_Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "*Now separate to Me* Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."_
The separation of Barnabas and Saul was for the work or ministry assigned by the Lord. The separation was to go to different places to bring the Gospel to the people.
_Romans 10:13-15 For *"WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED."* (14) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (15) And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: *"HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE, WHO BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS!"*_
People need to be saved. People need to be saved from the wrath of God. *The message of justification through faith in the blood of Jesus that cleanses man from our sin must be believed by people*. _I Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not *redeemed* with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) *but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot*._
People need to be saved from the power of sin that constantly strangles humanity. _I Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, *that we*, having died to sins, *might live for righteousness*—by whose stripes you were healed._
People need to be saved from the presence of sin. _II Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for *new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells*._
This Gospel or the Good News has to be preached and people must repent and believe in the Gospel.
The Gospel does not stop with a person’s salvation, the Gospel is about the Shalom of God. The Shalom of God is the reign of Christ. We have been saved so that we can reign with Christ here on earth and bring the Shalom of God. _Ephesians 2:5-6 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) *and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus*,_
By grace we have been saved, to sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. This is to bring the kingdom of God here on earth. _Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven._
We were created to be God’s co-rulers over all His creation. _Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; *let them have dominion* over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, *over all the earth* and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."_
Sin caused us to hinder this plan of God for we became captives of the devil to do his will. _II Timothy 2:26 and that they may come to their senses and escape *the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will*._ Instead of fulfilling the will of God and bringing His kingdom here on earth, we became prisoners of the devil, executing his agenda, which has brought about chaos, turmoil, disorder and confusion on earth. _I John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and *the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one*._
In Christ, we are now a new creation. _II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is *in Christ, he is a new creation*; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new._
We have been saved for good works which is the rule of God. _Ephesians 2:8-10 For *by grace you have been saved through faith*, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (9) not of works, lest anyone should boast. (10) *For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them*._
This is the plan of God from the beginning to bring His kingdom rule on earth. _Colossians 1:13-14 He has *delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love*, (14) in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins._
This is why we seek first His kingdom, which is a kingdom of righteousness. _Matthew 6:33a But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, …_ / _Psalm 45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; *A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom*._
This Gospel of Shalom is what we are being sent out to preach. The Gospel of Shalom begins with a person’s salvation and extends to bring the kingdom of God here on earth. Yes, we will reign in eternity too, but the reign with Jesus begins now. _Ephesians 2:7 that *in the ages to come* He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus._
Barnabas and Saul were separated to bring the Gospel to people in different places. ```People are longing to hear this Good News. To this end, we are separated and sent out to bring the Gospel to the people.```
