Luke 11 24-26 Overcoming the evil one Overcoming the evil one 4
*Surrender to the Holy Spirit* _Luke 11:24-26_
As we live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, we will live victoriously over the flesh. This is where many in our generation, are struggling _Luke 11:26._ We are trying to overcome the flesh, by the flesh. Though we know this is futile, yet we remain in a life of repeatedly falling into sin, getting up and then falling back into sin, once again. Since we are living this pedestrian life, we are unable to be the covenant blessing to the nations that God has intended us to be _Isaiah 42:6, 49:6._
God is longing to pour out His Holy Spirit on us but we need to hunger and thirst for Him _Isaiah 44:3._ The flesh profits nothing _Romans 7:18, John 3:6._ Nicodemus, who was a teacher of Israel, had to be born again, to enter the kingdom of God _John 3:1-15._ If we are operating in the flesh, however important we may be, from the eyes of the world, the wrath and holy judgment of God will be on us. Our Lord judged the rulers of the law, who were considered highly by men, very severely _Matthew 23:13-15._
_Will we heed the voice of the Lord and stop operating in the flesh but operate in the Holy Spirit?_
If we fall back to the flesh, after being enlightened, after having the tasted the gift of salvation by grace through faith and even partaken of the Holy Spirit, we crucify for ourselves the Son of God once again and we are putting Him to an open shame _Hebrews 6:4-6._ Remember, satan was put to open shame by Jesus on the cross _Colossians 2:13-15._
If we sin wilfully, after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there is only a fearful expectation of judgment of the fiery indignation of God, which will fall on His adversaries. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, for we trample the Son of God underfoot, count the blood of the covenant by which we were sanctified, a common thing, and are insulting the Holy Spirit of grace _Hebrews 10:26-31._
If we are entangled again in those polluted things from which we escaped through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the latter end is worse than the beginning _II Peter 2:20-22._
These are scary passages and we donโt like to read these portions of scripture. We prefer of see God as compassionate, kind, merciful and forgiving, which He is but let us not forget that He is also a God of wrath and anger, especially on those, who have tasted the Holy Spirit and yet go back to live by the flesh.
*Thought to ponder*
```Studies have shown that more than 85% of people in the church are living defeated lives and it is only a minority that are living the victorious life of the Holy Spirit. In which side are you?```
