Luke 15 1-7 To seek and to save the lost - part I The lost sheep 07 Sought out by God
29Jan2020 - *Sought out by God* - _Luke 15:1-7_ - Bible reading: _Luke 19:9-10_
_Luke 15:4-5 โWhat man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? (5) And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing._
We have titled the 15th chapter of Luke as *To seek and to save the lost*. This is the heart of God and this is how our heart needs to be too. The Lord was deeply concerned for the Pharisees and the Scribes for they were not in tune with the heart of God, which is to seek and the save the lost.
We are found by Jesus. Zacchaeus was curious to see who Jesus was but it was the Lord who found him. _Luke 19:9-10 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; (10) for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."_ It was when Zacchaeus was found by the Lord that he actually knew how far lost he really was.
The thief, who was crucified along with Jesus, on the cross, had no hope. His life had gone completely wrong and now it was the very end of the road for this man but the Lord found him. _Luke 23:42-43 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." (43) And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
All of us, without Jesus, are actually lost. Nothing else in heaven or earth or under the earth, no power, no authority or combination of all forces, can give man what he is created for, which is to be in a relationship with God. God is the Shepherd, who comes searching for us and finds us. _Isaiah 62:12 And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD; And you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken._
The one title that we can gladly accept for ourselves is *sought out* and *not forsaken*. We can rejoice in this wonderful reality that we are sought out and not forsaken by God.
_Isaiah 51:3 For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody._ Let us rest in the comfort of God, for nothing else is this world will ever comfort us than to be found by Him.
*Thought to ponder*
```What is the comfort that you are seeking for today? Are you assured in the fact that you are sought out by God?```
