25Mar2020 - *Concerned for others in this time of crisis* - _Luke 16:1-13_ - Bible reading: _Matthew 25:35-40_

_Luke 16:9 "And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home._

The Lord is calling us to make friends by unrighteous mammon. We have started looking at what our Lord meant by giving us this instruction.

We live in times of crisis. The messaging that is being given to us, in these anxious times is, conserve, take care, provide for yourself…hoard. Whereas the Lord is teaching us to give and share with those, who will not be able to repay us.

_Isaiah 58:7-8 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? (8) Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard._

As we share our bread with those in need and who cannot repay us, we are being God’s regents and we are storing up for ourselves treasures in heaven. _Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; (20) but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. (21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also._

When we store up our treasures in heaven, that is where our heart will be too. _Luke 14:13-14 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. (14) And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just." Proverbs 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given._

_I Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. (18) Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, (19) storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life._ This time of crisis is the opportunity for us to demonstrate our trust/faith in God.

_Matthew 25:35-40 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; (36) I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' (37) "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? (38) When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? (39) Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' (40) And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'_

*Thought to ponder*

```The end draws near, will we still continue to trust the material?```
