Luke 16 1-13 God's Regents 09 True riches
28Mar2020 - *True riches* - _Luke 16:1-13_ - Bible reading: _I Peter 1:6-9_
_Luke 16:11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?_
Though the love of money has serious consequences, God places money and material things into our hands to test us for our faithfulness in being His regents over His creation. He is preparing for His eternal kingdom, where we will also reign with Him. We are to hold money and other material resources in responsible but open hands.
Being faithful with unrighteous mammon is the test that all of us will need to pass in life. Why is this so? We need to pass this test so as to learn that our life has to pursue the *true riches*.
What is true riches? *Faith in God* is the true riches. _I Peter 1:9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls._ Mammon pretends as though it is the true riches of life. Many fall for this lie and pursue mammon thinking that mammon will give them security and safety in these tumultuous times. The securities of this world are vanishing before our eyes.
What is it that will remain? Trues riches, which is our faith in God. The extent to which we have been blinded is that we come to God as a means to get for ourselves false riches. This is the false teaching and false teachers, who are increasing in number and strength. This is why the Lord is expressing His concern for us, if He will find faith on the earth, when He returns _(Luke 18:8)_.
God is teaching us to grow and cultivate for ourselves, true riches. For where our treasure is there our heart will be. How do we pursue after and build our true riches, which is faith in God? _I Peter 1:6-8 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, (7) *that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,* (8) whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,_
The trials that we are going through these days are not to be seen as trials at all. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to grow and cultivate, faith in God. It would be highly unfortunate if we do not convert this current crisis into an opportunity, to grow our faith in God.
The people of the world are worried and anxious, since their hope is on the false riches of mammon. For us as the people of God, now is the time to demonstrate our distinctiveness that we live with confidence, for our security is on the true riches of our faith in God. _Matthew 6:31-32 “Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' (32) For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things._ Our heavenly Father knows our needs and He will take care of us. We build our faith in Him, which is the true riches.
Our faith in God, is what will be demonstrative, for the world to be attracted to Jesus.
*Thought to ponder*
```Is there the distinctiveness in you, from the people of the world around you, for you to demonstrate to them, your faith in God?```
