Mon5thJul2021- *God’s determined purposes* - _Luke 22:1-6_ - THE HATCHING OF THE PLOT TO KILL JESUS (09) – Bible reading: _ I Peter 1:18-21_
The Lord is working out His plans and purposes over time and over generations. Even when man is scheming and executing his evil agenda, the Lord is sovereign and He is completing His purposes.
God is on His throne and therefore we fall before Him in worship and we give Him all the glory that is due to Him.
_Luke 22:4-6 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. (5) And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. (6) So he promised and sought opportunity *to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude*._
This was the plot that was hatched by Judas, with the leaders. They sought out a way to arrest and have Jesus killed, quietly, without causing a commotion from the crowds
They were not wanting this to be done during the feast of the Passover, as that would be inappropriate and may turn out against them. *Yet, we know that the crucifixion of Jesus coincided with the feast of the Passover*.
_Matthew 26:5 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people."_
They had Jesus arrested in the dark of the night and had the trial and judgement passed, early in the morning, before the crowds could know what was going on.
Nevertheless, the killing of Jesus happened in broad daylight, in full public view. It was witnessed by all, whom these plotting leaders, wanted to avoid.
The Lord was in control and He was working out His eternal purposes.
This hatching of the plot to kill Jesus, was it just as how we read it or was there a bigger plan of God that was being revealed?
_Proverbs 19:21 There are many plans in a man's heart, *Nevertheless the LORD's counsel—that will stand*._
God created us in His image, gave us free will, made us be His co-rulers, ruling over all of His creation on His behalf. He longs for us to be in a mature relationship with Him that we, in God, would be fully loaded and efficient, for His glory and we too being glorified with Him.
Man has refused to be surrendered to the purposes of God but has chosen to go his own way, doing everything that is against God. *God’s greatness is such that though man has made his deliberate, evil choices, God is yet weaving His eternal purposes, in the seeming chaos*.
This is evident as we turn and look back at history.
_Proverbs 21:30 *There is no wisdom or understanding Or counsel against the LORD*._
God’s counsel still stands. God is reconciling man and creation back to Himself because of His great love for us. The love of God does not want us to miss out on all the goodness that He longs to bestow on us. Look, friends, at the foolishness of man that we reject His love.
_Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, '*My counsel shall stand*, And I will do all My pleasure,'_
This is who God is. *His counsel shall stand*.
_Mark 14:12 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, *when they killed the Passover lamb*, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?"_
*It was at the Passover feast when the lamb was killed, Jesus was killed, thereby signifying to the whole world, His plan for the redemption of man*.
This synchronization between the killing of Jesus and the killing of the Passover lamb was not coincidental but *God’s determined purpose* being put in place.
_I Peter 1:18-21 knowing that you were not *redeemed* with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) but *with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot*. (20) *He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you* (21) who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God._
We are redeemed by God, through Christ, since Jesus became the Passover lamb, which was planned and executed by people, who schemed and plotted to put Jesus to death.
_Acts 4:24-28 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "*Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them*, (25) who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: '*WHY DID THE NATIONS RAGE, AND THE PEOPLE PLOT VAIN THINGS*? (26) THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND *THE RULERS WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS CHRIST*.' (27) "For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together (28) *to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done*._
Though man plotted an evil plan, God was on His throne, working out His eternal purposes.
*Thought to ponder*
```The church becomes more answerable and accountable before God than the people of the world, for we know the purposes of God but are we aligned with His purposes or are we still plotting out our own ways?```
