29Jul2020 - *Kingdom transformation* - _Luke 17:11-19_ - THANKFULNESS AND GRATITUDE TO GOD 5 – Bible reading: _Luke 4:18-19_

_Luke 17:14 So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed._

"Go, show yourselves to the priests." This was the instruction that the Lord gave the ten lepers. Jesus was meeting the requirement of the law. _Luke 5:13-14 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him. (14) And He charged him to tell no one, "But go and *show yourself to the priest*, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded."_

_Matthew 8:4 And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go your way, *show yourself to the priest*, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."_

This matter related to leprosy or any similar disease and the way it needed to be administrated is prescribed in _Leviticus 13:2-46 / 14:2-32 "When a man has on the skin of his body a swelling, a scab, or a bright spot, and it becomes on the skin of his body like a leprous sore, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests._

Jesus observed the requirement of the law. He was not against the law. _Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill._

As Christians of the New Testament, what then is our concern regarding the law? _Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin._ The law gives us the knowledge of sin. The law is our tutor to bring us to Christ.

_Galatians 3:24-25 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (25) But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor._

_Romans 8:3-4 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, (4) that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit._ The righteous requirement of God that was prescribed in the law, can be met by faith in Jesus as we walk in the Spirit.

Jesus was concerned not only for their healing but also for them to be amalgamated with society and not be isolated. So, it has to be in all of our interventions with people. Our interventions cannot be handouts and band-aid responses but holistic solutions, seeking to bring people back to fullness of life.

We see this in the way Paul dealt with Onesimus, the slave, by reaching out to Philemon and ensuring that Onesimus would be able to move forward in life.

The gospel is of the kingdom of God, where there is fullness of life. _Luke 4:18-19 "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR; HE HAS SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PROCLAIM LIBERTY TO THE CAPTIVES AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED; (19) TO PROCLAIM THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."_

The acceptable year of the Lord is the year of Jubilee, described in the Old Testament. The Old Testament prophets provided graphic pictures of life in God’s kingdom here on earth. The Jewish people were familiar with these descriptions of the kingdom of God and they were eagerly awaiting the coming of the Messiah to establish His kingdom rule on earth.

The kingdom rule of Jesus begins in our heart as we receive Him by faith and walk in the Spirit of His grace. We cannot stop here at the gospel message. We are here on earth to bring the kingdom rule of God. Which is why we pray, _Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven._

*Thought to ponder*

```The church is here to bring healing to the nations.```
