Luke 17 11-19 Surrender, Thankfulness, Gratitude and Worship of God 08 Come to our place of rest in God
01Aug2020 - *Come to our place of rest in God* - _Luke 17:11-19_ - THANKFULNESS, GRATITUDE AND WORSHIP OF GOD 8 β Bible reading: _Revelation 19:4-5_
Luke 17:15-16 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, (16) and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan._
Yesterday, we looked at the comparison between the nine lepers, who travelled the longer distance to Jerusalem to meet the priests and the one leper who travelled the shorter distance to give glory and express his thankfulness to Jesus.
This is what the Lord desires of His people. He longs for us to remain in a place of rest, in Him. He longs for us to be in a place of worship, praise, thankfulness and gratitude to God. He is our God and all our fulfilment and satisfaction is complete in Him.
The majority of the Israelites expressed faith in God and experienced all the miracles. _I Corinthians 10:1-5 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, (2) all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, (3) all ate the same spiritual food, (4) and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. (5) But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness._
The majority of the older generation of 20 years and above, who came out of Egypt, to go to the land of promise, perished in the wilderness. Though they rebelled and grumbled, they did place their trust in God and experienced the miracles but quickly forgot the presence of God with them but grumbled and complained again, when they faced their next crisis. They did not come to the place of nestedness in God.
In Luke 5 we read of the great catch of fish that Simon Peter and his partners, James and John caught as they obeyed Jesus and launched into the deep but when they came to land, this is what happened. _Luke 5:11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him._ They chose God and not look to Him as the means for their life to go on.
They chose not to live life but they chose Jesus. Jesus was their source of life. This is where we need to be, always.
_Psalm 30:11-12 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, (12) *To the end* that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever._ What is our end? Our end is to give thanks, praise, worship and adoration to God. To be in a place of gratitude, thankfulness and worship of God.
_Psalm 103:1 A Psalm Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psalm 107:21-22 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! (22) Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing._ This our end, this is our place of rest and fulfilment.
What is happening in the throne room of God? _Revelation 19:4-5 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, "Amen! Alleluia!" (5) Then a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!"_
The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures, represent us, the people of God and all of creation. What will we be doing? We will be falling down before God in worship, adoration and praise.
What is the end of man? _John 5:23 that all should honour the Son just as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent Him._
*Thought to ponder*
```Majority of us are still coming to God, as a means to our end. We have not come to Him as our end.```
