Luke 13 22-30 The narrow door 13 No more in the flesh but in His Spirit
26Oct19 - *No more in the flesh but in His Spirit* - _Luke 13:22-30_ - Bible reading: _Romans 8:4-8_
_Luke 13:25-27 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from,' (26) then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' (27) But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'_
Who are the evil doers, to whom the Lord will say, “Depart from me all you evil doers”?
Relationship with Jesus, which we identified yesterday, is a relationship, where we are known by God. To be known by God, we must do the things, which He says. _Luke 6:46 “But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say? This is a call to surrender and submission to Christ. What is the hindrance to submission? The hindrance is the self.
This is why the boastful or the person centered with the self will not stand before God. _Psalm 5:5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity._ The self-centered person is the worker of inequity, to whom the Lord will say, “depart from me”.
Righteousness before God cannot be achieved by promoting the self or the flesh. _Romans 8:4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit._
There is a dangerous theology that is spreading very fast that promotes and exalts the self. The self has just one place and that one place is the cross, where we are crucified with Christ, buried with Him and we rise with Christ. This is the narrow gate that we have considered already.
_Romans 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds_ (perspective, belief window or world view, which dictates our behavior.) _on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (6) For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. (8) So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God._
Those whose lives are driven by the flesh or the self will be those to whom the Lord will say, “Depart from Me”.
*Thought to ponder*
```What is driving your life, flesh or His Holy Spirit?```
