03Nov19 - *Perfected in Christ Jesus* - _Luke 13:31-35_ - Bible reading: _Hebrews 5:7-9_

Luke 13:32 And He said to them, "Go, tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.'

The Lord gave us a glimpse of life in His kingdom. There will be no more sorrow and no more tears. Here, on earth, people are weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. He was showing them that life in His kingdom, will be one of ever-increasing joy. In this world, all the joy and entertainment that we have is temporary but in the kingdom of Jesus, we will increasingly be nourished and fulfilled.

This is what Jesus is praying to the Father. _John 17:4-5 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. (5) And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was._ Jesus came down, identified with our brokenness and glorified God but now He would go the cross and beyond the cross, He would go back to the glory, the reign, that He always had with the Father.

How was Jesus perfected and how would He perfect us? _Hebrews 5:7-9 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,_ Jesus cried to the Father, to take away the cup of being separated from Him but yet He was willing to go through the suffering of separation, for the sake of paying the penalty of our sin. _(8) though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. (9) And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,_ Jesus was perfected in becoming our substitute and He thus became the author of our eternal salvation, when we come to Him in total surrender and submission.

_Hebrews 2:9-11 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. (10) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings._ Since He identified with us, He not only is the captain of our salvation, He is also the one, who sanctifies us. _(11) For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,_

*Thought to ponder*

```Are you allowing Jesus to perfect you?```
