Luke 13 31-35 The lament of Jesus 04 Fulfilling God’s will
04Nov19 - *Fulfilling God’s will* - _Luke 13:31-35_ - Bible reading: _John 9:4-5_
_Luke 13:33 Nevertheless I must journey today, tomorrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem._
Jesus was here on earth to do the Father’s will. _John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me._ This was why He was send by the Father. _John 4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work._ The food for Jesus and His work was the Father’s will.
Just as the Father sent Jesus into the world, so are we sent by Jesus into the world. We are sent by Jesus into the world to do the Father’s will. _John 17:18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world._
Though we claim to be doing the Father’s will, we are not. If we were to examine our choices and decisions in life, truthfully, we will know that our choices in life, both big and small, were weighed by circumstances, the socio-political circumstances, the job market, children’s future, conveniences and many more. Our choices are also a combination of these factors.
We then tell ourselves that we need to be smart and practical. We even say that God knows my situation and He understands. We give biblical confirmations as well as a prophetic word but deep down we know that our choice was based on our own will and not God’s.
This is what the Lord told prophet Ezekiel. _Ezekiel 33:31 So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain._
Let us be warned that we will have to give an account of our life to God. _Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. (14) For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil._
It is only when we do the Father’s will that we will be the lights of our world. _John 9:4-5 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. (5) As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."_
*Thought to ponder*
```Are you being the light of the world?```
