12Dec19 - *Walk in humility with our God* - _Luke 14:15-24_ - Bible reading: _Revelation 19:11-16_

_Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."_

_Luke 14:21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. *Then the master of the house, being angry*, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.'_

Jesus was narrating this story of a man, who gave a great supper and invited many. We have been saying that this is about the marriage feast of the Lamb to His bride, the Church. God is inviting many to the feast. The feast is already going on but many of us are giving excuses for not participating in the feast.

The last couple of days, we have been looking at the role of the servant, taking the invitation of the Master, to an unreceptive audience. What will be the response of the Master to such an audience? Anger.

_Luke 14:24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.' " Matthew 22:7-8 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. (8) Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy._

We therefore need to give earnest heed, realizing who we are engaging with. _Hebrews 2:1-4 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. (2) For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, (3) how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, (4) God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?_

We see people today are interested more in signs, wonders, miracles and in the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God’s word tells us that these are a witness to the nature of God and they are a warning for people to return to Him.

_Psalms 2:10-12 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. (11) Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. (12) Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him._ Even if His wrath is kindled, but a little, we will not be able to stand before Him.

Let us get a glimpse of the King. _Revelation 19:11-16 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. (12) His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. (13) He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (14) And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. (15) Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS._

What should be our response? _Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?_

*Thought to ponder*

```How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?```
