20Dec19 - *The task of the servant* - _Luke 14:15-24_ - Bible reading: _Colossians 1:28-29_

_Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."_

_Luke 14:23-24 Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. (24) For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.' "_

Jesus was narrating this story of a man, who gave a great supper and invited many. We have been saying that this is about the marriage feast of the Lamb to His bride, the Church. God is inviting all to the feast. The Master was sending the servant to go into the highways and hedges to bring people to the feast of the Lamb.

The Lord is asking us, servants, to *compel* them to come in. The task of compelling people to come to the marriage feast of the Lamb, extends to also build and disciple people into Christ.

_II Corinthians 5:10-11 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (11) Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences._ Our task is to persuade people to live a life of surrender of the body to the Holy Spirit, since we all need to appear before the judgement seat of Christ.

_Colossians 1:28-29 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. (29) To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily._ Our task is to preach, warn and teach every man, in order to present every man, perfect in Christ.

_II Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching._

Our task goes even higher. We are tasked to execute God’s vengeance on nations. _Psalms 149:5-9 Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds. (6) Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, (7) To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; (8) To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; (9) To execute on them the written judgment— This honor have all His saints. Praise the LORD!_

*Thought to ponder*

```When we as God’s servants have been assigned a task, we will surely have to also give an explanation of our performance against our assignment, to the Master.```
