Luke 17 7-10 An unprofitable Doulos of Jesus Christ 13 He reconciled us in His body
23Jul2020 - *He reconciled us in His body* - _Luke 17:7-10_ - AN UNPROFITABLE DOULOS OF JESUS CHRIST 13 – Bible reading: _Colossians 1:20-23_
_Luke 17:10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.' "_
As an unprofitable Doulos of Jesus Christ, the Master owes us nothing but we owe Him our all. For persons such as us, He gave His life to redeem us. We are redeemed, bondslaves, purchased by His precious blood - Are we worthy?
_II Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him._ Jesus was made sin for us. Our sin deserved God’s just punishment. God’s justice cannot be laid aside. God’s justice had to be met in full.
We were not even aware that our sin deserved the just punishment/wrath of God. God knew that we did not know of our predicament, neither were we remorseful or even considering returning back to God, from whom we were alienated and were His enemies.
God loved us and He made the provision for us, through Jesus. He became man, lived in the flesh, tempted at all points just as we are but without sin. Jesus alone could satisfy the justice of God in His flesh. He who knew no sin became sin for us so that the full justice/wrath of God was poured on Jesus. God did this for us through His son, so that we (undeserving humanity) could meet the righteous requirement of God and be justified.
_Romans 5:6-10 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. (8) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. (10) For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life._
We are now saved from the wrath of God because of what Jesus has done for us. We who were the enemies of God were reconciled back to God through Jesus because of God’s love for us. The extent of God’s love for us continues. It does not stop at our reconciliation but our salvation is by His love. We must realise that salvation is not an onetime experience but salvation is being in a state of wholeness, health and wellbeing.
_Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?_ Will the Lord, who gave Himself up for us, not give us all things? He will surely give us all things and He knows our need much better than we do. So, is there a need for us to ask Him anything for ourselves? No, but we are here to pray for one another in the body of Christ. Just as Christ gave Himself for us, we are here to give ourselves to one another for the growth of His church.
_Colossians 1:20-23 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. (21) And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled (22) in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— (23) if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister._
We, who were the enemies of God were reconciled to Him through the body and blood of Jesus, broken and poured for us on the cross. God has done this for us so that we will be holy, blameless and above reproach in His sight. He has provided His great and precious promises by which we will partake of His divine nature. Those great and precious promises of God become real for us as we live out those promises by faith in Him and in the empowerment of His Holy Spirit.
This God has done and is doing in us in real-time so that we will partner with Him in the task of reconciling all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, back to Him, by the cross.
*Thought to ponder*
```How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?```
