29Mar2021 - *The eternal marriage* - _Luke 20:27-40_ - HE IS NOT THE GOD OF THE DEAD BUT OF THE LIVING 10 – Bible reading: _Revelation 21:2-5_

_Luke 20:34-35 Jesus answered and said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. (35) But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;_

We are in an eternal marriage relationship with Jesus. Jesus is, therefore, preparing us for the eternal marriage relationship with Him.

_Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, (26) that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, (27) that *He might present her to Himself a glorious church*, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish._

The Lord is cleansing and sanctifying the church to present her to Himself, a glorious church, not having a spot or wrinkle. This is what God is doing to His bride, the church. This is how husbands are to love their wives and this is how our marriages here on earth will be a demonstration, a preparation, a training to be in the eternal marriage with the Lamb of God.

_Revelation 19:6-8 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! (7) Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, *for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready*." (8) And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints._

The preparation of the bride, the church, for her bridegroom, Christ, is to be arrayed with righteousness. Righteousness is by faith. The righteousness of the church is by faith, where *in our faith in Jesus we live out our daily life*, for faith without works is dead. These are the righteous acts of the saints. This is how the church is clothed and adorned.

_Revelation 21:2-5 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, *the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God*. (4) And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (5) Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."_

This dwelling of God with us has already begun. The experience of the fullness of God’s dwelling with us is to take on a completely new and overwhelming reality. We are living in the habitat of God, by faith, now, but one day, in the age to come, what we are now experiencing by faith will then become sight.

_Revelation 21:9-27 Rev 21:9-11 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." (10) And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (11) *having the glory of God*. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal._

The church will have the glory of God. This is the glory in which we need to live, even here, in this age. In the age to come the church will be full of His glory.

_Revelation 21:22-27 But I saw no temple in it, *for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple*. (23) The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, *for the glory of God illuminated it*. *The Lamb is its light*. (24) And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. (25) Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). (26) And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. (27) But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life._

This is the eternal marriage relationship with Jesus to which we are being prepared and made ready. May we, wholeheartedly, yield to the working of God in us.

*Thought to ponder*

```The church has an eternal place in the heart of God.```
