04Apr2021 - *In coming to Jesus, we have truly arrived* - _Luke 20:27-40_ - HE IS NOT THE GOD OF THE DEAD BUT OF THE LIVING 16 – Bible reading: _John 6:33-35_

We have now come to the crux of the study of this passage, which is, *He is the God of the living*. When we come to Him, we have truly arrived. Our joy, fulfilment, happiness and well-being are in Jesus.

_Luke 20:37-38 But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord 'THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB.' (38) For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, *for all live to Him*."_

For all live in Him. Living is only in Jesus. He is the source and we come to Him and are submitted to Him. If anyone is not in Jesus, he or she is dead.

_I John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (12) *He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life*._

In Jesus, we have the fullness of life. When we believe or place our trust of our entire life on Him, we cross over from death to life. The thief on the cross, crossed over from death to life since he placed his life into the hands of Jesus.

Throughout history, people have crossed over from death to life because they placed their trust in Jesus and gave Him the full and complete authority of their life.

Trusting Jesus concludes that we are NOT trusting anything else. We are not trusting our jobs, careers, money, property, bank balance or any other material objects of life. We, cannot, on the one side, claim to be trusting God but on the other side, continue to trust all of the above material sources of life.

This dual life is not an option, for the Lord sees our hearts. He knows and He will judge the motives of our hearts. We can claim to be highly spiritual and show much spirituality by our activities and involvements. God is not fascinated with us, for He sees that in our hearts, we have actually placed our trust in the temporal things of life.

We must come to the place, *where we have repented of trusting the material things of life and have turned and placed our trust in Jesus*. This is giving our lordship to Christ. We must come to the place where Jesus has full and complete authority over us, He owns us. We are entirely His.

After crossing over from death to life, when we continue to live a life of trusting in Jesus and not on the material things of life, we shall be part of the age which is to come and not perish.

_John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (26) And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"_

Jesus is the bread of life, who has come down from heaven. Man has to choose to feed on Jesus and not on any other source, for his sustenance. Only in feeding on Jesus will man live life to the fullest.

Feeding on Jesus is an ever-growing satisfaction. The law of diminishing returns does not apply to Jesus. The things of the earth will only give temporal gratification but feeding on Jesus is an ever-increasing fulfilment and pleasure.

It is in the everyday issues of life that we place our trust in Him and we feed on Jesus. We then rise above our challenges of life. We are able to experience the fullness of life even in the midst of all the trials of life.

_John 6:33-35 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." (34) Then they said to Him, "Lord, give us this bread always." (35) And Jesus said to them, "*I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst*._

We need to be in the habitat of God. He must become our shelter. He must be husband to us and we must come to Him for our eternal rest.

*Have you come to that place in life, where Jesus is your eternal rest? Is He a husband to you?*

_Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Acts 17:28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'_

All things consist and hold together in Christ. He is our destination. *When we come to Jesus, we have truly arrived*.

_Colossians 1:16-17 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (17) And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist._

*Thought to ponder*

```Many of us are not willing to forsake the world but we want Christ too.```
