Luke 18 15-17 TO RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD 04 Carried by God
26Sep2020 - *Carried by God* - _Luke 18:15-17 TO RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD 4 β Bible reading: _Isaiah 40:11-12_
_Luke 18:16-17 But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. (17) Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."_
"Let the little children come to Me β¦β The Lord wanted the children to come to Him for He carried them. _Mark 10:16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them._
God is the one who carries His children in His bosom and gently leads His own. This is the picture that must engulf us. The one who carries us is also the one who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, the one who has measured the heaven with His span, He has calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, He has weighed the mountains in a scale and the hills in a balance.
_Isaiah 40:11-12 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young. (12) Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales And the hills in a balance?_
Both the depictions of God must overlay over each other before us. When we go through the storms of life, when challenges overwhelm us, when we feel totally depleted and devastated, the understanding of who our God is must swamp us. He is God who gently carries us as well as He is the mighty one.
As much as God carries us, we too are in His place to carry the little ones. Carrying the little ones, include care, nurture, upbringing, teaching and training.
_Deuteronomy 6:7-9 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. (8) You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. (9) You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates._
Our task is to bring understanding into the mind of the child. We are to relate the everyday issues of life with the ways of God and help children understand the practicality of obeying God in the normal everyday issues of life.
Sadly, often, we as adults do not take the time and effort to help children understand the significance of obeying God in the practical matters of everyday life. We have frequently failed to be examples ourselves and children can see that what we claim, we do not practice.
We have made relationship with God into inculcating habits into children such as prayer before food, prayer before going to bed, reading the Bible and going to church or Sunday School. These are good habits but these habits need to be a completion of giving them understanding in obeying God in the practical matters of everyday life, both conceptually as well as in its application.
We have not carried the little ones.
*Thought to ponder*
```Will you carry the little children as God has carried you?```
