12Apr2021 - *We are rulers of God in the Davidic line* - _Luke 20:41-47_ - CHRIST, THE SON OF DAVID (4) – Bible reading: _Ephesians 2:5-7_

David’s kingship was being both a priest and a king. David’s kingship was based on a spiritual walk with God. It was the spiritual basis of his life that translated into effective kingly leadership that aided people to experience a glimpse of the Shalom of God. Even though this Davidic kingship was not the complete experience of the Shalom of God, yet even the fractional experience was what set apart David’s reign.

David was able to see the big picture. He knew that his kingship was under the rule of God. This was why David called Him Lord, though Jesus is the Son of David.

We need to see ourselves also in the same lineage of David. We are here as co-rulers with God. God has once again reinstated us to have dominion over God’s creation. We continue on in the ancestry of David. Therefore, the Davidic kingdom had never come to a halt. We are here to be both priests and kings of God in all spheres of life. We bring kingdom values in all areas.

*Luke 20:41-44 And He said to them, "How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? (42) Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, " SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, (43) TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL."' (44) Therefore David calls Him 'LORD'; how is He then his Son?"*

The reign of God continues over generations.

_Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, (2) has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, *whom He has appointed heir of all things*, through whom also He made the worlds; (3) who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, *sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high*,_

Jesus has set up His kingdom since He has purged our sins and has sat down at the right hand of God. Jesus has been made heir of all things and He now takes on the Davidic rule.

_Hebrews 1:8-13 But to the Son He says: "*YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER*; A SCEPTER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTER OF YOUR KINGDOM. (9) YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS MORE THAN YOUR COMPANIONS." (10) And: "YOU, LORD, IN THE BEGINNING LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH, AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORK OF YOUR HANDS. (11)

THEY WILL PERISH, BUT YOU REMAIN; AND THEY WILL ALL GROW OLD LIKE A GARMENT; (12) LIKE A CLOAK YOU WILL FOLD THEM UP, AND THEY WILL BE CHANGED. BUT YOU ARE THE SAME, AND YOUR YEARS WILL NOT FAIL." (13) But to which of the angels has He ever said: "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL"?_

This is a beautiful picture of the reign of Jesus. God has spoken to His Son Jesus and has invited Him to sit at His right hand. This is an exclusive place for Jesus to continue the reign of David.

David was able to capture this conversation from the Father to His Son. So, David saw Jesus as Lord, whom the Father has made to rule as King of the everlasting kingdom. This was the depiction that David was able to see, though Jesus is called the Son of David.

_Hebrew 10:12-13 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, *sat down at the right hand of God, (13) from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool*._

Enemies refer to the powers, principalities and evil forces of darkness that operate in the heavenly realms. These will be made His footstool.

Many of us have received the blessing of forgiveness of sins. We are greatly thankful to Jesus for what He has done for us on the cross. We have entered into a relationship with Jesus but that is where we stop in our Christian journey. We are content with our personal salvation.

Forgiveness of sin is the entry door to enter into the everlasting kingdom of Jesus. We are now to reign with Jesus as priests and kings of the Davidic tradition.

We here to rule here on earth and when Christ returns, we will join with Him and be co-rulers in His eternal kingdom. Though our present circumstances seem gloomy and dreary, we are not discouraged but we reign with Christ with great joy and enthusiasm for we know who we are and we wait with eager anticipation for His eternal kingdom.

*Thought to ponder*

```Romans 8:21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.```
