04Nov2020 - *The Lord heard the cry of faith* - _Luke 18:35-43_ - THE FAITH OF BARTIMAEUS 5 – Bible reading: _Jeremiah 29:12-13_

The faith of Bartimaeus had burst into flames. He was calling and crying out to Jesus the Son of David.

_Luke 18:39-40 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" (40) So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,_

_Mark 10:48-49 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" (49)

So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you."_

What was the result of the cry of faith of Bartimaeus? The God of heaven and earth heard his cry and stopped. He commanded that Bartimaeus be brought to Him.

The Lord is waiting to hear the cry of His people. We do cry to God but our cry, often, is not a cry of the faith of Bartimaeus.

Why do I say so?

We are not willing to throw ourselves completely upon Him and we are not willing to see Him for who He is. Which is why our prayer to God has to be to first ask God to help our unbelief.

We carry too much of baggage that it becomes almost impossible for us to express the simple, childlike faith of casting ourselves completely upon Him and to see Him above all our crises.

Here are the promises of God.

_Psalm 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."_

_Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass That before they call, *I will answer*; And while they are still speaking, *I will hear*._

_Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and *I will listen to you*. (13) And you will seek Me and *find Me*, when you search for Me with all your heart._

_Psalm 10:17-18 LORD, *You have heard the desire of the humble*; You will prepare their heart; *You will cause Your ear to hear*, (18) To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more_

_Isaiah 30:18-19 Therefore the LORD will wait, that *He may be gracious to you*; And therefore He will be exalted, that *He may have mercy on you*. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. (19) For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. *He will be very gracious to you* at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, *He will answer you*.

_Isaiah 40:11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.

_Psalm 102:17 *He shall regard the prayer* of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer._

When we come to the New Testament. The God of heaven and earth is assuring us, as His church, as His bride, not to be afraid. _Luke 12:32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom._

Bartimaeus is demonstrating for us the faith that moves the heart of God. The cry of faith that made the Lord God to hear, to stop, and then give the command for a solution to be given for Bartimaeus’ predicament.

Will you ask the Lord to give you the faith of Bartimaeus? Don’t hesitate. Don’t think it is sinking too low for you to be identified with a blind beggar. This could be the greatest day of release in your life by praying, “Lord, give me the faith of blind Bartimaeus”.

*Thought to ponder*

```Cut lose all the baggage and weight that is hindering you to live the life of faith in God. For without faith, we cannot please Him.```
