Luke 15 8-10 To seek and to save the lost - part II The lost coin 05 Provide joy to the heart of God
09Feb2020 - *Provide joy to the heart of God* - _Luke 15:8-10_
_Luke 15:8-10 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? (9) And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' (10) Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."_
We began with God, who had made all things well and complete and then we read that one coin was lost. This relates to man being lost. The whole of creation too is languishing because man is not fulfilling his responsibility of a regent/viceroy of God’s creation. God’s heart is breaking over His creation and He is on the task of seeking to bring man and all of creation back into a relationship with Him. As much as Jesus is the light, He has made us, His disciples to be lights in the world. Just as the woman lit the lamp, sought for the lost coin by sweeping the house and searched carefully, we too need to be doing the work of seeking and saving the lost, with much care.
The coin is found. This is the victory that Jesus is longing for, which is that those who are lost will be found and restored back to the full and completeness in Him. _Luke 15:6-7 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' (7) I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance._
This joy of people being restored back to Him is what His heart aches for. _Jeremiah 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:32 Can a virgin forget her ornaments, Or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number. Psalm 81:13 "Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!
This is the pain of God’s heart that people are not coming back to Him and enjoying the fellowship and intimacy with Him. Let us be certain that our joy and fulfilment can only be found, when we are in fellowship with God. This is why God is asking this question of us. _Micah 6:3 “O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Testify against Me._
*Thought to ponder*
```What is the fulfilment that you are seeking for today? Is it to bring joy to the heart of God?```
