*FRIEND OF GOD*
Tue22Jun2021 - *The end for those who reject God* - _Luke 21:34-38_ - WATCH AND PRAY VI (02) – Bible reading: _Isaiah 2:12-19_
People are wanting to go back to their pursuits in life. The inclination seems to be to quickly get back all that was held back because of the pandemic. There seems to be no remorse or a desire to return to God.
*We, as the church, are here to be just as Noah was, which is to keep doing the ministry that has been entrusted to us, faithfully and diligently and at the same time call people around us to repent and return to God*.
_Luke 21:34 “But *take heed to yourselves*, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, *and that Day come on you unexpectedly*._
We must pay heed and not be found unprepared, for the return of our Lord.
_Matthew 24:40-44 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. (41) Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. (42) *Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming*. (43) But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. (44) Therefore you also be ready, for *the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect*._
Why was one person left behind? *That person was not prepared for the Master’s return*.
The master of a house has no idea when a thief will come but he is prepared and takes all the precautions to protect his house. This is the analogy that our Lord is giving us, for our preparedness for our Master.
_Luke 21:35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth._
What will happen to the people of the world, who are rejecting Christ?
_Psalms 11:4-7 The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, *His eyelids test the sons of men*. (5) The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. (6) *Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup*. (7) For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright._
The Lord is looking for those who are seeking God, knowing that they do not meet His righteous requirement. The Lord will reveal Himself to these seekers and they will acknowledge Jesus and appropriate His righteousness.
_Isaiah 24:17-23 *Fear and the pit and the snare Are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth*. (18) And it shall be That he who flees from the noise of the fear Shall fall into the pit, And he who comes up from the midst of the pit Shall be caught in the snare; For the windows from on high are open, And the foundations of the earth are shaken. (19) The earth is violently broken, The earth is split open, The earth is shaken exceedingly. (20) The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again. (21) It shall come to pass in that day That *the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones, And on the earth the kings of the earth*. (22) They will be gathered together, As prisoners are gathered in the pit, And will be shut up in the prison; After many days they will be punished. (23) Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the LORD of hosts will reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously._
People of the world are busy with their priorities that they do not even care to deride and scorn the things of God. That is how far the arrogance of man has reached.
_Isaiah 2:12-19 For *the day of the LORD of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up— And it shall be brought low*— (13) Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan; (14) Upon all the high mountains, And upon all the hills that are lifted up; (15) Upon every high tower, And upon every fortified wall; (16) Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all the beautiful sloops. (17) *The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; The LORD alone will be exalted in that day*, (18) But the idols He shall utterly abolish. (19) They shall go into the holes of the rocks, And into the caves of the earth, From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily._
*The proud ones will be punished by God*.
_II Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men._
Not only man but creation too will be punished. Why is this so? This is because creation was given into the care and responsibility of man. Man’s sin and rebellion has affected creation, which is why we see sicknesses, violence and terrible natural calamities in our world.
This is what happened in the time of Noah. All of creation was destroyed because of man’s wickedness.
_Genesis 6:5-7 Then *the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually*. (6) And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. (7) So the LORD said, "*I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air*, for I am sorry that I have made them."_
This is the small window of opportunity for the world to repent.
*Thought to ponder*
```It is our responsibility, as His church, to explain these matters to the world.```
