_Luke 19:8-10 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold." (9) And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; (10) for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."_
We have seen two reasons why Zacchaeus was a son of Abraham. Firstly, he was bearing the fruits of repentance. Secondly, Zacchaeus was walking by faith and that made him a son of Abraham, for those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.
The third reason why Zacchaeus was a son of Abraham was that he was baptised into Christ or he had put on Christ.
The old Zacchaeus was being buried and the new Zacchaeus was now being raised up. Zacchaeus was going through baptism, in the true understanding of baptism.
Zacchaeus was rising up as a new person in Christ. This is the Christian life. We live now as new persons in Christ. Our old man is crucified and buried with Christ by faith and we rise as a new man in Christ, also by faith. We live now the resurrected life of the Spirit of God, by which we live in Christ. Living in Christ is a life of the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
_Romans 6:3-4 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? (4) Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life._
We now are living the glorious new life of Christ, in the enablement of the Holy Spirit.
_Colossians 2:9-12 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; (10) and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (11) In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, (12) buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead._
This walk of Zacchaeus as a new person in Christ made him the seed of Abraham.
_Galatians 3:27-29 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (28) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (29) And *if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise*._
All along, being the sons of Abraham was considered as an exclusive proprietary of the Jews. Now in Christ, there is no more Jew or Gentile, we are all one in Christ Jesus.
_Ephesians 2:14-16 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, (15) having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, (16) and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity._
If we are Christ’s then we inherit the blessing of the son of promise, who was Isaac.
_Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise._
