09 – 30Mar2022 – Perception change has taken place - Luke 24:13-35 - JESUS IS KNOWN IN THE SCRIPTURES - Bible reading: Acts 5:27-32
“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You brought about such a great change in the perception of the disciples. They became Your disciples by denying themselves, taking up their cross daily and following You. This change in their perception has impacted history. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
The disciples explained to Jesus, their perception of what had taken place. We have seen the three faulty positions that they held.
Luke 24:19-24 And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, (20) and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. (21) But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. (22) Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us. (23) When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. (24) And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see."
Though the disciples were closed regarding resurrection, the Lord did not give up on them. He brought about change in their perception.
Luke 24:45-46 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. (46) and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day,
It was when the Holy Spirit came on the disciples, their perception was changed.
Luke 24:48 And you are witnesses of these things. Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
The witness of Jesus has gone to the ends of the earth. This has taken place because there was the perception change in the disciples.
We see Peter and the other Apostles in action before the crowd. Acts 2:32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
Act 2:22-24 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— (23) Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; (24) whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
This was the authority with which the disciples witnessed Jesus. Their perception change was brilliant since they were able to give a fuller understanding of Jesus.
We see the disciples witnessing before the crowd at the Temple.
Act 3:14-15 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, (15) and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
This boldness came from the perception change that had taken place in the disciples.
Act 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
We see the disciples before the Council, which is the apex administrative body of the Jews.
Act 5:29-32 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men. (30) The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. (31) Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. (32) And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."
The disciples exhibited a powerful understanding of the kingdom of God as well as repentance and forgiveness of sins.
The message of Jesus was reaching the Gentiles because of the perception change in the disciples.
Act 10:38-43 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (39) And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. (40) Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, (41) not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. (42) And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. (43) To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins."
Peter’s message now goes to all the world.
I Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (4) to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
All of us, down through the ages, have been blessed by the perception change that took place in the disciples. The Lord be praised.
Thought to ponder
Are you consciously exercising the perception change that Jesus has brought about in your life?
