LUKE 19 11-27 TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 07 The substance of the judgement
15Dec2020 - *The substance of the judgement* - _Luke 19:11-27_ - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 7 – Bible reading:
When the King returns with the fullness of His kingdom. The first task will be, judgement.
_Luke 19:15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading._
_Jude 1:14-15 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, (15) *to execute judgment on all*, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."_
This is the judgment that is to happen on all, both the dead and the living.
_II Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, *who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom*: I Peter 4:5 They will give an account to Him who is *ready to judge the living and the dead*._
The living and the dead are not only those who are the physically alive and the physically dead but this is referring to those who are in the state of the first death and those who are alive in Christ.
_Act 17:31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."_
When the judgement begins, it will be the church which will be judged first.
_I Peter 4:17 For the time has come for *judgment to begin at the house of God*; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?_
Paul writing to the church at Corinth exhorts them to be aware of the judgement. _II Corinthians 5:9-10 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. (10) *For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ*, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad._
As we read in our verse today, it was the servants who were commanded first, to give an account of what they had gained with the capital that the King has invested in them.
Judgement will be about the capital that God has invested in us. What have we done with the capital amount? He will want to know how we have increased and multiplied the capital for the glory of God.
The question that may arise in us is, ‘how am I expected to work with the capital that God has invested in me?’ This is a reasonable question.
The world and our human understanding will suggest many ways by which we can work with the capital that God has given us. It is a great folly that many believers, out of their eagerness and enthusiasm to serve the Master, are working out their own ways to multiply the capital that God has invested in them. The familiar question asked by believers, "What must I do for God?"
God not only has shown us the content of the judgment that is to take place but has also given us the framework or the road map by which we can use the capital that God has invested in us.
Our prayer needs to be, "Lord help me follow the mandate that you have already given to me."
What is this God-given road map? This road map has been given to man from the very beginning of man’s creation. This is the creation or the cultural mandate, which God has given us.
_Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."_
The road map consists of five elements. They are 1 Be fruitful 2 Multiply 3 Fill the earth 4 Subdue it 5 Have dominion
We will look into each of the elements in more detail in the coming days. Let us now continue to draft our purpose statement.
_We are citizens of the kingdom of God here on earth, redeemed and reconciled back to God, through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We live and work with the understanding that we are workers of the kingdom of God, fulfilling the creation or cultural mandate, with the capital that He has invested us with, in the enablement and wisdom of the Holy Spirit._
_ The kingdom of God has already begun, which will come into full effect when the Messiah returns. As we prayerfully await the Messiah to return, to set up the fullness of His everlasting kingdom, we reach out to an audience that is rejecting God, with boldness and love._
_In the eternal kingdom of Jesus, we will be assigned roles and responsibilities, depending upon our performance here on earth, with the capital that God has invested in each of us._
*Thought to ponder*
``The way to bring results for the glory of God is also made known to us. We have no excuse to be unproductive.```
