19Dec2020 - *Subdue it* - _Luke 19:11-27_ - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 11

The content of the judgment is clear before us. _Luke 19:15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading._

Since we must be prepared to face the judgment, let us revisit our purpose statement.

_We are citizens of the kingdom of God here on earth, redeemed and reconciled back to God, through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We live and work with the understanding that we are servants of the King, fulfilling all the elements of the creation or cultural mandate, in the image of God, with the capital that He has invested us with, in the enablement and wisdom of the Holy Spirit._

_The kingdom of God has already begun, which will come into full effect when the Messiah returns. As we prayerfully await His return, we reach out to an audience that is rejecting God but with boldness and love._

_In the eternal kingdom of Jesus, we will be assigned roles and responsibilities, depending upon our performance here on earth, with the capital that God has invested in each of us._

We will now look at the fourth element of the creation mandate.

_Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "*Be fruitful* and *multiply*; *fill the earth* and *subdue it*; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."_

Subdue it. To subdue is to harness. We are to harness all of the fields of human activity in which the Lord leads us. Every field requires deep study and understanding. We need to research and discover the laws and principles that are the basis on which each field of human activity, functions.

These principles need to be discovered, harnessed and deployed for the good of all. Excellence has to be underlying in everything that we do. This is the purpose with which we study, work or conduct our business.

This is also the reason why we educate our children, which is to be an authority in their field of expertise so that they can serve humanity and bring glory to God. We ought not to be anxious at all about our children or our personal wellbeing.

Here again, man, who was created in the image of God, is under the control of the evil one, who makes man increase in knowledge in every field, without being in a surrendered relationship with the Creator.

As those who are in Christ Jesus, we are to recover and restore every field of human activity to the wisdom of God, so that the laws and principles in each field are harnessed and employed for the good of all.

Satan’s intention is to make man plunder nature for selfish ends by alienating us from God. Each of us became law to ourselves for we now claim that each of us has the right perspective of what is right and what is wrong.

Satan has made man think that he can replace God. So, knowledge is increasing, but without man being grounded in reverential submission and dependence on the Creator.

_Genesis 3:5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."_

What we have done is unleashing a horror story. We live in a world of disparity, where the rich are becoming richer and the poor, poorer. God desired for all of humanity to enjoy the blessing and abundance of God.

Let us look at two examples of those, who harnessed their fields of expertise for the glory of God. Look at how the Lord raised them up in life. This is the model that God has purposed for each of us in our respective fields.

_Daniel 6:1-4 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; (2) and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. (3) Then this *Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm*. (4) So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him._

The king saw in Daniel, a man who was an authority in running government affairs, for the good of the people.

_Genesis 41:33-36 “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. (34) Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years. (35) And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. (36) Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine."_

Joseph was thorough in his understanding of food security, for the good of the people, as well as in administration.

The Lord raised up Daniel, Joseph and many others, all through history, for they were in tune with the creation/cultural mandate of God.

*Thought to ponder*

```Will you raise up Daniels and Josephs from your home and church?```
