Wed14Jul2021 - *To listen to the Master* - _Luke 22:7-13_ - PREPARING FOR THE PASSOVER MEAL (08) – Bible reading: _Acts 26:16-17_
We have understood the preparation that is expected of us as we come to dine with the Lord at His table. We give ourselves to the Lord for His cleansing, for it is only the Lord who can cleanse and prepare us to partake of the meal with Him.
Peter and John had the great experience of seeing all that Jesus told them to do, unfolding in the same precise sequence. They would have understood that they were witnessing the nature of God, who knows it all.
_Luke 22:13 So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover._
When we come to the Lord’s supper, we are coming to commune with the one who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who knows it all.
_John 2:23-25 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. (24) But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, *because He knew all men*, (25) and had no need that anyone should testify of man, *for He knew what was in man*._
When we are at the table with Him, He knows what is in each of us. He knows every detail about us.
_John 3:35 The Father loves the Son, and *has given all things into His hand*._
_Acts 7:49-50 ‘HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, AND EARTH IS MY FOOTSTOOL. WHAT HOUSE WILL YOU BUILD FOR ME? SAYS THE LORD, OR WHAT IS THE PLACE OF MY REST? (50) HAS MY HAND NOT MADE ALL THESE THINGS?'_
It is such a grand privilege, friends, to share the meal with the Lord who has made all things.
Imagine, a meal which you had with a very important person. Think of the experience. Now multiply the same experience many times over to appreciate the experience of dining with the God of heaven and earth. How awesome this moment would be with our God?
_Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (16) For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (17) And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist._
The Lord is also longing to reveal His concerns with us, at the meal. This is what takes place at the Lord’s supper. He shares His burdens with us. This is a fellowship time with God.
We come prepared and He is eagerly desiring to communicate His thoughts with us. We, therefore, must come to the meal expecting to hear from God.
_Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."_
The Lord reveals to us what is in His heart. What is in the heart of God?
His heart aches that the world is estranged from Him. The people of the world are not in a relationship with Him. He is longing to unburden Himself to us so that we will carry the pain of God’s heart to a world that is rejecting God.
_II Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God._
This is the response that He desires to hear from all of us, from around the table, to say, “Lord, here we are, to be your representatives as individuals, families and churches, to reconcile an alienated world to You”.
It is at this fellowship meal that we receive God’s commission for us to do His mission here on earth. The Lord’s supper is the place where we hear His purpose for us and we come expectantly to be commissioned.
God does nothing without revealing His mission to His prophets.
_Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, *Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets*._
The Lord reveals His plans and purposes to us. The Lord’s supper is the time for us to listen to what the Lord has to speak with us.
I hope what we have discussed today, will help each of us to take a deep look at the Lord’s supper so that this meal will become crucial in our journey with our God?
*Thought to ponder*
```Are you fulfilling your commission from the Master?```
