Luke 11 27-28 Hearing God's word and keeping it Keeping God's word 8
*Led by the Holy Spirit to be God’s family* _Luke 11:27-28_
Yesterday, we looked at the aspect of hearing God’s word. We said hearing involves understanding, change of perception, relevance and process of application of His word into our lives. People can be good listeners but it is not enough to be a good listener and even appreciate the word of God but it is necessary to take the next step to understand the meaning of His word or allow the seed of God’s word to germinate in our hearts.
Hearing then must lead to doing, which is obvious. We cannot be good hearers of God but not doers. The flesh will wage a battle within us, not wanting us to live by His word but this is where we must reckon that our old man/nature is crucified with Christ, the body of sin has been done away with _Romans 6:6._ We now offer the members of our bodies as instruments of righteousness to God, for we are under grace _Romans 6:12-14. Remember, Grace is divine enablement._ We thus receive with meekness, the implanted word, which is able to save our souls _James 1:21._
_Very sadly, many in the body in Christ are living defeated lives, for years. We are involved in ministry and God does continue to use us for His work but if we live by the flesh, we will die but if we live by the Spirit, we will live Romans 8:13/Matthew 7:21-23._ It is the Holy Spirit, who gives us life. The flesh will not profit us at all. God’s word is Spirit and they are life _John 6:63._
Being led and governed by the Holy Spirit is what makes us children of God. As we live by His Holy Spirit, victoriously over the flesh/sin, we will have the joy and freedom to call Him, “Abba, Father”. Otherwise, there will always be a lurking fear, within us. The Holy Spirit, within us, gives us the assurance that we are His children _Romans 8:14-16/Luke 8:19-21._
*Thought to ponder*
```The church, the bride of Christ, is entitled to live a life of celebration of God’s victory, being proved in us.```
