*FRIEND OF GOD*

Tue20Jul2021 - *Sitting together with Christ in the heavenly places* - _Luke 22:14-20_ – PARTAKING OF THE LORD’S SUPPER (05) – Bible reading: _Ephesians 2:5-7_

As we participate with the Lord in His supper, He is preparing us to dine with Him at His table in His kingdom, where we will be co-rulers with Him. We will have tasks and responsibilities in His eternal kingdom.

_Luke 22:14-16 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. (15) Then He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; (16) for I say to you, *I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God*."_

The Lord’s supper is a curtain-raiser and a precursor to the feast at the eternal kingdom of our Lord Jesus, this is what the disciples needed to understand.

_Luke 22:28-30 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. (29) And *I bestow upon you a kingdom*, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, (30) that *you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones* judging the twelve tribes of Israel."_

Keeping in mind that we are being prepared to dine with Him in His eternal kingdom, what is it that we need to be doing at this time?

_Luke 12:35-37 “*Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning*; (36) and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. (37) *Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching*. Assuredly, I say to you that *he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them*._

At the meal, in His eternal kingdom, it will be an overwhelming experience for the Master will have *us* sit down and He will serve us.

This is the reason why the time here on earth for us is precious. We must see ourselves as to how the Lord will be treating us in His kingdom.

Can we be casual in our commitment and in the service of His kingdom? *Remember He will honour us to this extent that He will serve us at His table*. We are going to be co-rulers with Him.

Keeping the destination in mind, we prepare ourselves, now.

_Revelation 19:6-9 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! (7) Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." (8) And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (9) Then he said to me, "Write: '*Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb*!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."_

We need to be thankful, grateful for, we, because of His grace, have been brought into the household of God, to be His bride, and we will be at the marriage feast of the Lamb.

This is how we need to see that Lord’s supper in which we participate now.

_Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, *I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me*. (21) *To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne*. (22) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." ' "_

We are familiar with this verse that we must open the door of our heart and He will come in and we dine with Him and we have fellowship with Him. We stop at this point.

We need to extend and go to the next verse, where He will grant us to sit with Him on His throne because we have invited Him into our lives here and we are in a communing fellowship with Him, here.

_Ephesians 2:5-7 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus._

Sitting together with Christ is about communing at His table in His eternal kingdom, being co-rulers with Christ. In the ages to come, He intends to show in us the exceeding riches of His grace.

*Thought to ponder*

```How can we ever grasp the extent of His love for us?```
