LUKE 19 11-27 TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 17 Roles and Responsibilities that await us
25Dec2020 - *Roles and Responsibilities that await us* - _Luke 19:11-27_ - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 17 – Bible reading: _I Corinthians 6:2-3_
_Luke 19:16-17 Then came the first, saying, 'Master, your mina has earned ten minas.' (17) And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.'_
_Matthew 25:21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'_
In the eternal kingdom of Jesus, we will have ‘authority over’ and we will be ‘rulers over many things’. The theme of having dominion, which was our overarching role here on earth, will continue into the next age of the eternal kingdom of Jesus.
Before we get a glimpse of what the Bible has to say about our roles and responsibilities in the eternal kingdom, let us revisit our purpose statement.
_We are citizens of the kingdom of God here on earth, redeemed and reconciled back to God, through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. This world is being driven by the evil one, through man, who has become his prisoner._
_We, citizens of the kingdom of God, live and work, fulfilling all the elements of the creation or cultural mandate, in the image of God, with the capital that He has invested us with, in the enablement and wisdom of the Holy Spirit._
_The kingdom of God has already begun, which will come into its full effect when the Messiah returns. As we prayerfully await His return, we reach out to an audience that is rejecting God but with boldness and love._
_In the eternal kingdom of Jesus, we will continue with the theme of having dominion, which was our theme here on earth. We will be assigned roles and responsibilities, depending upon the results that we produced here on earth, with the capital that God has invested in each of us._
Here are some of the insights that are being shown to us of the role of the church in the which is to come. _Daniel 7:18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.'_
_Daniel 7:22 until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. Daniel 7:27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.'_
There will be dominions, powers and authorities that will be subservient to Jesus, under His rule over them. We, the saints of the Highest will be co-rulers with Christ, over dominions.
_Revelation 2:26-27 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— (27) ‘HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THEY SHALL BE DASHED TO PIECES LIKE THE POTTER'S VESSELS'— as I also have received from My Father;_
As we live here, victoriously, fulfilling our purpose, we will have power over nations in the next age. When that is the reality, ought not we to take our time of work here on earth, seriously, as this is the time of exposure to be made ready for roles and responsibilities in the age which is to come?
_Revelation 3:21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne._
_Ephesians 2:5-7 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus._
We are usually content to stop at the _5th verse_ of _Ephesians 2_ but we must not stop there but move further and appropriate all that the Lord has prepared for us.
We have been made alive together with Christ by grace through faith, so that we will have dominion with Christ here on earth and then very importantly, God will reveal the exceeding riches of His grace toward us in the age which is to come.
_Hebrews 2:5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels._
Though we were made a little lower than the angels, this age was made subject to us. The age which is to come too has not been given to the subjection of angels but to us.
Apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthians, encourages, exhorts and rebukes them to fulfil their work by giving them the picture of God’s grand plan.
_I Corinthians 6:2-3 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (3) Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?_
*Thought to ponder*
```We seem to be caught up with our struggles here, without seeing it all the light of God’s grand design.```
