📖 Luke 19:11-27

03Jan2021 - *Growth in abilities* - _Luke 19:11-27_ - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 25 – Bible reading: _I Corinthians 10:1-5, 11-12_

_Luke 19:24-26 “And he said to those who stood by, 'Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.' (25) (But they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas.') (26) 'For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him._

When we increase, multiply and make the investment that God has placed in our lives to grow, then an amazing miracle takes place. The inbuilt capacity within us also grows, proportionally.

_Matthew 25:15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, *to each according to his own ability*; and immediately he went on a journey._

This is the principle of God. We see this in the parable of the talents, (which is money), in _Matthew 25_. The talents (money) were given according to the abilities of each servant.

So, when the servants brought about an increase in the investment that was made to them, their abilities accordingly increased. Whereas, the one who did nothing with the investment, remained stagnant and did not grow in his abilities.

When we do not make the investment that God has placed in our lives to multiply, not only will we stagnate, we will perish.

_I Corinthians 10:1-5 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, (2) all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, (3) all ate the same spiritual food, (4) and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. (5) But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness._

Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians is reminding them of what happened to the Israelites, who began their journey from Egypt.

There were over 600,000 men, who set out from Egypt but only two from this number entered the promised land. The rest perished. This is the principle and this is also a warning for us.

_I Corinthians 10:11-12 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (12) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall._

Let us strengthen our purpose statement and use it as an effective tool for 2021.

_We are citizens of the kingdom of God here on earth, redeemed and reconciled back to God, through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. This world is being driven by the evil one, through man, who has become his prisoner._

_We, citizens of the kingdom of God, live and work, fulfilling all the elements of the creation or cultural mandate, in the image of God, which is to give of Himself._

_With all diligence and zeal, we use the capital that God has invested us with, in the enablement and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. We are conscious that as we increase the investment that God has placed in us, our abilities too, grow proportionally._

_The kingdom of God has already begun, which will come into its full effect when the Messiah returns. As we prayerfully await His return, we reach out to an audience that is rejecting God but with boldness and love._

_In the eternal kingdom of Jesus, we will continue with the theme of having dominion, which was our theme here on earth. We will be assigned roles and responsibilities in the age which is to come, depending upon the results that we produced here on earth, with the capital that God has invested in each of us._

*Thought to ponder*

“Lord, I choose to be a Joshua and a Caleb.”
