Luke 11 33-36 Light of our world Light of our world 11
*Faithfulness in the marriage relationship* _Luke 11:36_
The matter of sexuality is sadly, an area of relentless darkness in our world. The world wishes to promote all forms of sexual perversion calling it different expressions of sexual orientation. The world is demanding that persons experiencing various types of sexual orientations must be allowed to freely practice their type of sexual assertions and society must accept, approve and endorse the same. We are in a state of _free fall_ in this matter of sexuality.
How are we, as the church of Jesus, going to respond? This is our question, for we are called to be the light of our world and very importantly in the matter of sexuality.
We have understood, to some extent, the purpose of marriage and sexuality within the boundary of marriage. If this be the way God intended sexuality to be experienced, then why is there so much temptation, arousal and attraction that all of us experience, outside of marriage? _(no one can deny the arousal and attraction, that we feel, outside of marriage)._ Isn’t this the reason, why we fall into sexual experiences outside of the marriage limit?
Let us go back to the purpose of marriage that we defined a couple of days ago. *Marriage is an honourable institution, set up by God, between one man and his one wife, a woman, as a demonstration, as a functional model, as a representation of His husband love and the mutual, reciprocal, faithful love that the bride or His people have towards Him.*
God gave sexuality exclusively within the marriage relationship in order for us to experience *faithfulness* to our spouse in the midst of a world, rampant with sexual urges and arousals. It is when we experience faithfulness in the marriage relationship that we understand how God wants us to be faithful to Him, as He is our husband and we, His people, are His bride.
We, the church, are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. We are to be faithful to Him and not get united with other husbands such as career, money, success, getting well settled, social status and so forth _Ephesians 5:30._ God’s heart breaks because His bride, the church, has gone chasing after many lovers and has not been faithful to Him but He longs to forgive us, accept us and take us back to be His own, even after we have been His unfaithful wife _Jeremiah 3:1, 20/II Corinthians 11:2._
In order to display God’s faithfulness to His church and the church’s faithfulness to her husband, Christ, the Lord set up the institution of marriage between one man and his one wife, a woman, to be faithful to each other, in the matter of sexuality _Ephesians 5:31._ This is a great mystery, concerning Christ and the church _Ephesians 5:32._
A husband and his wife truly begin to know one another only on the bedrock of faithfulness in the marriage relationship. If there is unfaithfulness then the marriage relationship breaks down. God hates divorce _Malachi 2:16._
Just as in a marriage relationship, faithfulness in a non-negotiable element, our relationship with God is built on the foundation of faithfulness _Hosea 2:19-20._ If we are unfaithful to Him then we do not know Him.
*Thought to ponder*
```Without the right roadmap, many marriages have gone astray.```
