05Jan2021 - *Being prepared for the age which is to come* - _Luke 19:11-27_ - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS, WILL BE GIVEN 27 – Bible reading: _Ephesians 1:21-23_

_Luke 19:24-26 “And he said to those who stood by, 'Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.' (25) (But they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas.') (26) 'For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him._

The Lord is showing us, the church, as to what awaits us in the age which is to come.

_Ephesians 2:7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

The church has an eternal role. We are not just the bride of Christ here on earth, we are being made ready to reign with our Master, our King, our Husband in His eternal kingdom. This role and function too will only be possible by His grace, which He lavishes on us because of His kindness towards us.

_Ephesians 1:21-23 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, *not only in this age but also in that which is to come*. (22) And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all._

Jesus has been raised up above all authority and power, in this age as well as in the next. We, the church, draw our identity in and from Christ. The church must see her high position in Christ in this age as well as for the age which is to come.

The enemy knows who we are but we are often immersed in our own fragilities that we fail to see our own status in Jesus. Since we do not function out of our distinctiveness, we fail to create the kingdom impact that we were foreordained to create.

_Ephesians 3:9-11 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; (10) *to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places*, (11) according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,_

Let us set our mind on things above. Let us get the perspective of the church, which has an eternal place.

_Hebrews 12:22-23 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, (23) *to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven*, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

We are being transported into our eternal abode which is the heavenly Jerusalem, *the church of the firstborn, who is Jesus*. _Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren._

It is this perspective that must dictate our life here on earth. _Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. (29) For our God is a consuming fire._

Since we are receiving an eternal kingdom, let us serve God by the enablement of the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of grace.

The role that we will have in God’s eternal kingdom, seems quite challenging. How will we take on those tasks if we have not given ourselves sufficiently to the preparation that God was taking us through here on earth? This is why we need to serve God with reverential fear.

_Revelation 2:26-29 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— (27) ‘HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THEY SHALL BE DASHED TO PIECES LIKE THE POTTER'S VESSELS'— as I also have received from My Father; (28) and I will give him the morning star. (29) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." '_

Friends, consider the content and substance of the role and responsibility that awaits the Church in God’s eternal kingdom. If this would take a hold of us, we will live entirely differently here on earth.

_Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth._

Thought to ponder

```We are strangers and pilgrims here on earth…though we live a life of excellence, serving the KING.```
