*Living victoriously over sexual temptation* _Luke 11:36_

God’s will for us is our sanctification. This requires us to understand that we simply do not have the option to say, “I feel the urge to commit this kind of sexual expression and I must have the sanction to do so.” *Any form of sexual expression outside of the boundary of marriage, which is between one man (male) and his one wife (female), is immoral*.

Each of us must know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour _I Thessalonians 4:3-4._ The way to seize control over our bodies, is given to us, so that we have no excuse, whatsoever.

Let us continue to examine the temptation that young Joseph handled victoriously, at the home of Potiphar.

The fundamental principle on which Joseph lived his life was the principle of fear of God. When we are not walking in the fear of God, in any situation, we are walking in grave danger. Remember that the devil is prowling like a roaring lion, looking for whom he can devour _I Peter 5:8._ He targets us since we seek to be the light of God, set on a lamp stand, to remove the darkness in God’s world, which he intends to destroy.

The first response for Joseph, based on the fear of God was that he refused her _Genesis 39:8._ This is important, for playing around with temptation is dangerous. _When we know, we are being drawn to a particular temptation, there must be instant refusal. Don’t even give a ‘toe hold’ of an opportunity, for sin._

Joseph then explains to her, his stand. He was willing to relate with her in a professional capacity and in that role, he was willing to have a healthy and sound relationship with her but Joseph was very clear about the limit of the relationship, with this lady _Genesis 39:9._ _This must also be the same with each of us. We should have healthy relationships with people at our work places, at church, in the society, in our gatherings, amongst relatives and neighbours but we must draw the limit of relationship. If we sense, and as a child of God, the Holy Spirit will surely alert us, that we are being drawn and the limit of relationship is losing clarity, then we must immediately repent before God and step back, in the relationship._

This lady was not going to easily give up on Joseph. She was determined to get him anyhow. _Friends please beware that there are sexual predators around us._ Joseph, now knew that she was a predator and was very wise to handle her. He simply ignored all her sexual advances and most importantly, did not even want to be with her _Genesis 39:10._ What do we learn here? Joseph knew that his body would get aroused and so Joseph maintained a safe physical distance from her. _Friends, in God’s wisdom, considering our cultural upbringing, we must maintain those safe physical distances._

*Thought to ponder*

```Are you living victoriously over sexual temptation?```
