📖 Luke 11:33-36
*Flee youthful lusts* _Luke 11:36_
God’s will for us is our sanctification. This requires us to understand that we simply do not have the option to say, “I feel the urge to commit this kind of sexual expression and I must have the sanction to do so.” *Any form of sexual expression outside of the boundary of marriage, which is between one man (male) and his one wife (female), is immoral*.
Each of us must know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour _I Thessalonians 4:3-4._ The way to seize control over our bodies, is given to us, so that we have no excuse, whatsoever.
Joseph was experiencing a powerful sexual temptation in the home of Potiphar. Potiphar’s wife was determined to have Joseph, somehow and she was looking for the right opportunity. It was in this situation that we see that Joseph went into the house to do his work _Genesis 39:11._ This principle is very important for all of us. *We must be focused on our work.* We all need leisure but leisure does not mean we give room to our desires and urges of the flesh. Here again, as we are led by the Holy Spirit, God will make our leisure time truly refreshing and rejuvenating. _However, If we are wasting our time, by giving room to our eyes and our other senses to watch pornography or other suggestive visuals, we are opening and inviting the devil to come in and take hold of us._
God’s word commands us to flee sexual immorality. He who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body _I Corinthians 6:18._ Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in us and whom we have from God. We are not our own. _We do not have the right to say, my bodily urges is mine and I have the right and I must be given the sanction to fully give vent to the needs of my body._ We are doubly God’s. We are His creation as well as those redeemed by His precious blood _I Corinthians 6:19-20._ We are not our own.
Not only should we flee sexual immorality but we must also give access to the Holy Spirit to follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart _II Timothy 2:22. It is therefore good to have spiritual mentors, accountability partners and support groups, who will be of great help and strength to build us in our walk with God._
Besides, let us not forget that we have the authority and the position to resist the devil and he will flee from us _James 4:7._
