*People who are able to see* _Luke 11:33-36_

“The lamp of the body is the eye.” What do we understand by this statement that our Lord made? We must recognise that the eye here is not just the physical eye, though what we see through our physical eye is important, but *the eye is about understanding, perception, reasoning and our world view*.

Our understanding and our perception affects our whole body and this is the reason, we need eyes to see and ears to hear. We need a godly perspective to life. It is this vision or the ability to see life from the eyes of God that will make our whole body full of light.

The psalmist knows that it is the word of God that will continuously correct his perception to life and so his prayer is for God to open his eyes that he may see wondrous things from God’s law _Psalm 119:18._

Paul had had a very wrong perception of his relationship with God and out of zeal for God, he persecuted the church. God opened his eyes on the road to Damascus (Though he actually became physically blind), Paul’s understanding was opened and he became a minister to the gentiles. He talks of his ministry and says, _“to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” Acts 26:18_

Writing to the Ephesians, Paul desires that their understanding would be further enlightened and broadened, so as to have the wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, that they may know what is the hope of God’s calling for them, what are the riches of the glory of God’s inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power _Ephesians 1:17-19._

*Thought to ponder*

```John 3:19-20 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (20) For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.```
