Luke 11 33-36 Light of our world Light of our world 5
*The excellence is of God and not of us* _Luke 11:33-36_
The warning that our Lord is giving us is to make sure that the light in us, should not become darkness. How can this happen? How is it possible that the light within us, become darkness? This dangerous position can happen, when we promote and project the self _Luke 11:35._
Woe to those who are wise and prudent in their own eyes. A man, wise in his own eyes is a fool _Proverbs 26:12/Isaiah 5:21._ When people begin to say that they are rich, have become wealthy and have need of nothing, they do not realise that they are actually wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked _Revelation 3:17._
It is those, who do not see and are coming to God, longing for His perception to life, will our Lord give sight but those who claim to see, will be made blind _John 9:39._ Therefore, the light in you and me is Jesus. He is the hope of our gory and this is the mystery, which has been hidden through the ages and is now being revealed to God’s saints _Colossians 1:26-28._
God commanded the light to shine out of the background of darkness _Genesis 1:1-3._ That was in the beginning but He is once again commanding us to shine out into the darkness of our world. He, our Lord Jesus has shone in our hearts so that we emit the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Jesus Christ. The excellence and the glory is of God, in Jesus and not of us. We are only earthen receptacles. We are always conscious that this matter of being the light of the world, is not about us but it is *Christ in us* _II Corinthians 4:6-7._
Apostle Paul’s ministry continues to reverberate and powerfully impact thousands of lives over the centuries but how did Paul himself, view his ministry? He was with the people in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. His speech and his preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Holy Spirit and of power. Why did Paul ensure that this was how he and the team with him, conducted the ministry? He did this because he was deeply conscious that he did not want his audience and his mentees to place their faith on themselves but on God _I Corinthians 2:3-5/I Thessalonians 1:5._
*Thought to ponder*
After the “bless me” theology that wrecked havoc in the church, the next wave that is devastating us is the “I am good” theology.
