LUKE 19 28-40 BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD 09 Glory to Christ through the church
16Jan2021 - *Glory to Christ through the church* - _Luke 19:28-40_ - BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD 9
Jesus was going into Jerusalem and to the cross.
We have been surveying as to how through the cross the Lord was bringing us into His kingdom, which the disciples needed to grasp.
Here were the disciples themselves prophesying
_Luke 19:37-38 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, (38) saying: " 'BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!' Peace in heaven and *glory in the highest!*"_
We have seen yesterday as to how through the cross, each of the four dimensions of Shalom was restored for us and for all of creation.
God’s eternal plan is to reconcile all things to Himself. It is in the habitat of God that we have the Shalom of God. This is God’s kingdom and His glory.
In the prophecy of the disciples, they rejoiced that the King has come in the name of the Lord. They rejoiced that He brings Shalom and they also rejoiced that there would be *glory in the highest*.
What is the grand overarching plan of God?
_Ephesians 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, (10) that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him._
Though it is a mystery, God has not kept His plan hidden form us but has made it known. He is gathering together in one all things *in Christ* (In the habitat of God). All things consist of those things both in heaven and on earth, *in Christ*.
This gathering together of all things will result in the praise of His glory. We, the church, have a vital part to play in the gathering together of all things in Christ. _Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved._
_Ephesians 1:12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory._
Our part in the glory of God is an ongoing, everyday experience. Paul explains this to us in the following passage.
_I Timothy 1:16-17 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. (17) Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen._
Each of us is being a pattern to the other for everlasting life. (Everlasting life is not only a matter of longevity of life but also a matter of the quality of life, which is life in Christ or the life of the Shalom of God, in the habitat of Jesus). This results in God’s glory.
God is glorified when the wisdom of God is displayed by the church to the powers of darkness.
_Ephesians 3:9-11 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; (10) *to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,* (11) according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,_
When we see the grand culmination of the plan of God, which is in His glory, we bow before Him in worship.
_Ephesians 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (15) from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, (16) that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, (17) that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, (18) may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— (19) to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God._
_(20) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (21) *to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen*._
*Thought to ponder*
```It was through the cross that Jesus was glorified.```
