Luke 11 37-54 Repenting from hypocrisy Woe 18
*A heart of repentance* _Luke 11:37-54_
Our Lord had completed His teaching to the religious leaders but there was no remorse, no repentance, no willingness to change, in them. They remained adamant and entrenched in their position. They assailed Him vehemently, cross-examining Him, lying in wait to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him before the authorities and to ultimately destroy Christ _Luke 11:53-54/20:20/Matthew 22:15/Mark 12:13._
We live in the end time, when there is a famine for repentance. The kind of teaching that is flooding our world, is that we are good, we are fine and that there is nothing wrong with us. We are not sinners, we are saints, we need not repent. In the whole of the third chapter of second Timothy, Paul talks about the attitude of the people in the end times. The attitude is all about glorifying and promoting the self. The heart of repentance is absent. Whereas, the word of God is given for doctrine, *for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness*, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work _II Timothy 3:16-17._ How is a man of God made complete and equipped for every good work? It is when the man of God accepts reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. This requires a heart to listen, to accept having gone wrong, *to repent*, to receive the reproof/correction/instruction in righteousness and move on to be complete and equipped for good work.
As disciples of our Lord Jesus, living in the end times, we must have a heart of humility, brokenness and contriteness, willing to repent. With this as our own status, we reach out to people around us, teaching them with patience. We correct people in humility, who are in opposition against the word of God, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth. We desire that they come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. _II Timothy 2:24-26._
Our speech must be with grace, seasoned with salt, that we may know how we ought to answer each one _Colossians 4:6/I Peter 3:15._
*Thought to ponder*
```Unless the church repents, there is no hope for the land.```
