08 – 20May2022 – The peacemakers - Luke 24:50-53 - THE BLESSING OF GOD - Bible reading: II Corinthians 5:18-21

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are blessing us with Your Shalom.

This is the blessing with which we bless our world around us, where there is no Shalom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.”

Luke 24:50-51 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. (51) Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

We continue the study of the Aaronic blessing.

Numbers 6:26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." '

Apostle Paul is showing us how we can internalise the blessing of God’s Shalom. Here is a step-by-step process to experience the Shalom of God.

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

We are to be people who rejoice in the Lord in all our circumstances and at all times.

(5) Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

Often, people around us cause us to become angry and frustrated. It is here that we must learn to be gentle. This is the application of the Shalom of God. We can be gentle with people, who frustrate us since the Lord is at hand.

(6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Whatever may be happening in life, we must convert the same into a prayer to God. Our prayers are requests and supplications to God, regarding our circumstances, that we place them at the feet of the Lord, with thanksgiving. It is important to be always thankful to God, in all our situations, and yet present our needs, concerns and requests, to God.

(7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When we are in this attitude of presenting our supplications to God, with thanksgiving, our hearts and minds will be filled with the Shalom of God.

Friends, this is the sure answer to all those, who are experiencing fear, doubt, anger, frustration, bitterness, depression and all such related issues. We have a certain and sure solution presented to us, for our struggles in life, yet it is strange that we remain with our difficulties. This is how the devil is cheating us from receiving the solution that God has provided.

As we live in the Shalom of God, we are sent out as emissaries of God, with His Shalom, into our world, where there is no Shalom.

John 20:21-22 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." (22) And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

It is the Shalom of God that we offer to our world.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

We are the church. The representatives of God. Representatives of His Shalom to our world. This makes our lives, worth living. We have a great task to do till we breathe our last breath. We are God’s peacemakers or Shalom creators.

Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

We bring the Shalom of God into our world and that is how we bring His kingdom here on earth.

Romans 14:17-19 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (18) For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. (19) Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.

We experience the Shalom of God and we offer the Shalom of God to our world.

II Corinthians 5:18-21 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself (brought us into His Shalom) through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, (we are entrusted with the mission of bringing Shalom to our people).

(19) that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

It was man’s sin that prevented mankind from experiencing the Shalom of God. Man’s sin is now accounted for by Christ and has been settled, once for all, before God. It has been taken out of the way. This message has to be made known to a world that is desperately searching… not knowing that what they are searching for, is the Shalom of God.

(20) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

We are to plead with people and tell them with all earnestness, that the solution is available for man’s major predicament. Man, in his foolishness and pride is refusing to receive, what he desperately needs.

The solution is Jesus, for He is our peace.

(21) For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

We must continue in the Shalom of God, for we are His peacemakers.

James 3:16-18 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. (17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. (18) Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Thought to ponder

Are you being a Shalom creator?
