*Christ, the focus of our persistence* _Luke 11:5-13_

Our Lord desires for us to be persistent with Him. He taught this principle of persistence to us through two stories, one of a friend who woke up at midnight to give bread to his friend, who had come to ask him and the other of an unjust judge, who dispensed justice to a widow. Both of these people did what they did, only because of the persistence of the two, who approached them for help.

Our Lord is telling us that if the friend and the unjust judge, helped those in need because of the persistence of those who asked help from them, how much more our heavenly father would give to us if we would ask Him.

Many, therefore, go away with the idea that we must ask God, persistently, for whatever we want and He will give it to us _Luke 11:9-10._ They miss the real issue of the teaching of our Lord. Jesus desires that we must persist for Him, for He is our sufficiency _II Corinthians 3:5._ He is the one, we must persist for, for our Lord is longing for us to realise that He knows what is best for us.

We are therefore content in Christ. We have arrived, when we come to Him. He places His desires and purposes in our hearts and we are fulfilled, in fulfilling His desires _Philippians 4:11-13._ We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us, to accomplish His purposes, for He is our goal and sufficiency.

_Friend, what are you pursuing after, in life, today? What is occupying your heart and mind? What do you want, in life? If it is not God Himself, you are bound to be frustrated and unhappy.

Paul persisted and pressed forward to be found in Christ, for he knew that Christ was his righteousness. He wanted to know Jesus more and more and experience all of the benefits of a relationship with Jesus. He knew that knowing Jesus was to be a journey of exciting discovery and that one level of that experiential relationship with Jesus would open up another larger scenario of knowing Him. He was therefore pressing toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Paul is longing that all those, who desire to be mature in Jesus, would have the same experience as he, of persistently, pursuing Jesus _Philippians 3:9-15._

*Thought to ponder*

```Psalm 106:14-15 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert. (15) And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.```
