13 – 25May2022 – Bringing nations under the kingdom of God - Luke 24:50-53 - THE BLESSING OF GOD - Bible reading: Psalms 22:27-28
“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are blessing us to fill the earth.
The reason is to restore all things back to You. We commit ourselves into Your loving hands. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.”
Luke 24:50-51 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. (51) Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
Let us continue to meditate on the creation blessing.
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
We ponder further on the third item of the creation blessing, which is to fill the earth.
Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
God is reconciling all things to Himself. He has entrusted to us this ministry of reconciling people and creation to Him. This is why we are to fill the earth. It is from this understanding that we receive the great commission.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (19) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
The great commission is to bring back the authority of God in heaven and on earth. We are to therefore make disciples of all nations, which is not only people of political nations but people of various groups and audiences.
Discipling people is the blessing of multiplication, which is a long-term commitment to people. Discipling people is by teaching them to observe all things commanded by God.
People are able to observe us, for we have filled the earth. People see our lives as role models of the commands of God. They see us as people of the kingdom of God, for we submit to His authority over us.
We saw how Daniel demonstrated a life that was submitted to God. Similarly, we are sent out to fill the earth.
Luke 24:47-48 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (48) And you are witnesses of these things.
We need to be amongst the people as witnesses of the message of the gospel.
Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (16) He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
The Lord does not want anyone to perish in the eternal fire but be saved. We rescue people from all the bondages in which they are held, because of sin. Yet, let us keep in mind that God is reconciling humanity, as well as all of creation back to Him.
Our workplaces and all that we do are all part of creation, which must be restored back to God. All fields of activity are God’s but are now being operated by the devil. Ours is to return all of these domains back to God, by filling the earth.
Colossians 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Apostle Paul saw his role as a minister of the gospel, to every creature under heaven.
Psalms 22:27-28 All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the LORD, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You. (28) For the kingdom is the LORD's, And He rules over the nations.
Nations are the people groups representing every field of work and activity. We must fill the earth, to be witnesses of the gospel amongst all peoples.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Reconciling people back to God is about bringing people back under the authority of God. God is the owner and Creator. All things are held in Him. This is the kingdom of God. To this gospel of His kingdom, we are witnesses and ambassadors, filling the earth.
Romans 16:25-27 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began (26) but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— (27) to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
All nations must come under the command of God for obedience to the faith. We must, therefore, fill the earth, to bring people into the kingdom of God.
