31May2020 - *God stepped into man’s predicament* - _Luke 16:19-31_ - Bible reading: _Romans 5:6-11_

_Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented._

We have understood the three reasons why evil is in our world. Why some people receive good things in life and others, evil things? Why do evil people seem to prosper, while innocent people suffer?

Where is the justice of God? Has God invaded into the situation of man’s predicament to bring all things back to its fullness and completeness?

Three reasons for the evil in our world - The bad news

1. Man's death (Though dead he is still the ruler of God's creation)

2. Man has now become the arbitrator of good and evil from a position of death.

3. Satan is inflicting death into the whole situation through man, who has become a vassal of Satan

We have looked at these three reasons in-depth and so we must be clear in our minds and being clear in our minds, we must explain to people, who so easily and flippantly raise these questions, without waiting to know if there could be an explanation for the evil in our world.

People, generally, in a sweeping manner, blame it all on God for the evil in our world. Do we see the deception of Satan that even here he does not want man to ever come to know the reason for the bad news and the wretched condition of man’s predicament?

If man were to come to know the reason for the evil in our world and man's predicament then man would start looking for the solution but by blaming God for the evil in our world, the devil has ensured that millions will never turn to God for he has made man see God as the villain in the story and not the “Way Maker” that He is, out of the crisis.

Man is, therefore, the cause as well as the recipient of evil in our world. Yes, man is also in the grip of Satan, churning out more evil, but man chose to come into that status, knowing full well what the outcome would be of his rebellion and of breaking away from God.

Man’s condition is fatal and terminal. Religion, Philosophy, Science, knowledge, all of man’s good works and good efforts put together will not be able to bring man out of his predicament. It is the Humpty-Dumpty story for man. It is into this situation that God steps in, to provide the solution. The solution of God to the entire chaos had to be comprehensive and not cosmetic.

What made God step into man’s predicament and set all things right that had gone into the state of bedlam? It is His nature. God is love. God had to step in. His nature of love would not allow God to stay away from us and not reach out to us. He considers us precious and He loves us deeply and dearly. It is His love that has reached out to us, to restore us.

God is love but at the same time, God is just. God’s nature of love cannot overlook or put aside God’s nature of justice. Both had to be in place for the solution to man’s predicament, as well as the crisis of the whole of creation.

God’s solution had to also be such that God had to bring man back to the original position in which He had created man, which is to be His regal authority and representative to rule over His creation. The solution of God had to be a comprehensive one for that His nature too, of wholeness and completeness.

When we explain the good news of Jesus to people, we need to be equipped with the clarity of understanding. We also share, endued with the power of His Holy Spirit, for the ministry of the gospel of Jesus is the ministry of His Holy Spirit.

*Thought to ponder*

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.
