Luke 24 50-53 THE BLESSING OF GOD 19 31May2022 Luke 24 50-51 The blessing for eternity
19 – 31May2022 – The blessing for eternity - Luke 24:50-53 - THE BLESSING OF GOD - Bible reading: Ephesians 2:5-7
“Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the blessing with which You have blessed us. Your blessing for us is for eternity. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.”
Luke 24:50-51 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. (51) Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
We remain one more day on the creation blessing.
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
We are at the last dimension of the creation blessing, which is to have dominion. This matter of having dominion is not only for this age but is also for eternity.
Apostle Paul is praying to the Father that the eyes of the church should be opened to see the wonderful blessings with which she has been blessed.
Ephesians 1:20-23 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, Jesus went through death, which is our death. When He was raised from the dead, Jesus was once again seated with the Father, to have dominion over all.
Let us take a look at the extent of the dominion of Jesus
(21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. (22) And He put all things under His feet,
All the rule and authority of Jesus, which He has reclaimed, is not only for this age but also for the age which is to come. What does that mean for the church?
and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
The church, in Christ, is the co-ruler with Jesus, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Hebrews 2:5-8 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. (6) But one testified in a certain place, saying: "WHAT IS MAN THAT YOU ARE MINDFUL OF HIM, OR THE SON OF MAN THAT YOU TAKE CARE OF HIM? (7) YOU HAVE MADE HIM A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND SET HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS. (8) YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET." For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
In the fullness of the kingdom of Jesus, we will see all things put under the feet of the church.
Ephesians 2:5-7 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
By saving us by His grace, He has made us be co-rulers with Him, to have dominion, now, but we will also be His co-rulers, in the ages to come. This is the victory over the devil and his reign.
Ephesians 3:8-11 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, (9) and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; (10) to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, (11) according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,
Through the church, the manifold wisdom of God is being made known to the rulers in the heavenly places.
Daniel 7:13-14 "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. (14) Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.
This is about Jesus and His rule. Now, let’s look at what happens to the church.
Daniel 7:18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.'
As the church, we have dominion for eternity, with Jesus.
Daniel 7:21-22 "I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, (22) until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom .
Then, we see the final picture of God’s blessing on the church.
Daniel 7:27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.'
God’s blessing for us, is for eternity.
Thought to ponder
Friend, bring eternity into your present.
