10Oct19 - *Bearing fruit for His kingdom* - _Luke 13:18-21_ - Bible reading: _Psalm 92:12-15_

_Luke 13:18-19 Then He said, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? (19) It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches."_

The parable that Jesus has given here has an overall focus, which is that we begin small in His kingdom but the miracle of the kingdom is that it grows large and becomes a blessing to many.

Within the overall understanding of the parable, what are the specifics? What does the mustard seed represent? We are the mustard seed. We said this yesterday. God has placed within us all the potential of the kingdom. Just like any seed that has within it the potential of the plant or the tree. We are His precious seed that He has chosen and cleansed so that He can plant us in different places for us to bear results for His kingdom.

We must see ourselves as the seeds of God, which He is planting. _John 12:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain._ We must be willing to fall into the ground and die, only then the potential of the kingdom that is within us, will burst forth for His glory.

God desires that we be a blessing to others. _Isaiah 61:3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."_ We are called to be trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord so that He will be glorified.

_Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. (8) For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit._

*Thought to ponder*

```Is your life that seed, which was sown and has germinated, grown and is now being a wonderful blessing to others or is your life dried up and wasted?```
