Luke 23 44-49 THE DEATH OF JESUS 09 23Jan2022 Luke 23 44-45 Brought to our eternal tabernacle
09 – 23 Jan 2022 – Brought to our eternal tabernacle - Luke 23:44-49 - THE DEATH OF JESUS - Bible reading: Hebrews 9:11-12
“Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your death, which took place on the cross. This was the moment when the Lamb of God was slain. The veil of the temple was torn in two so that we could enter the presence of God. Lord, You have ransomed and redeemed us and made us eligible to enter the Holiest of Holies. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.”
Luke 23:44-45 Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. (45) Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.
Let us look simultaneously at the Gospel of John.
John 19:28-30 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!" (29) Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. (30) So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Jesus died on the cross, the Lamb of God was slain, the veil of the temple was torn in two, and Jesus said, “I thirst”.
Hebrews 9:11-12 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. (12) Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
Jesus is our High Priest to make us enter the more perfect tabernacle. What we had here on earth was not perfect. It was only a copy of the true. We will be in the heavenly tabernacle, spending eternity in the presence and shelter of God. For us to spend eternity in the heavenly tabernacle, Jesus has made the way through His blood, shed, or His death on the cross.
I Peter 1:18-21 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (20) He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you (21) who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
What Jesus has done for us, needs to be received by faith, by belief. We have the basis for our faith in Jesus, because of His resurrection from the dead. Jesus died and He was anointed for burial. Jesus then rose from the grave. Our faith and hope are in God
Right at the beginning of Jesus’s life here on earth, His purpose was declared.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Jesus was the Lamb of God to make us a part of the eternal tabernacle.
Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
This was the prophecy of Jesus.
Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
Those of us who have received what Jesus has done for us, by faith, through His grace, comprise the church of Jesus Christ. The church consists of those who are ransomed by the blood of Jesus.
Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
This is why the church must repeatedly reaffirm the blood of the New Covenant.
Matthew 26:28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
This is explained to us by Apostle Paul.
I Corinthians 11:24-26 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." (25) In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, " This cup is the new covenant in My blood . This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." (26) For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
We are proclaiming the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, till He comes.
I Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
After Jesus completed the work on the cross, by His death, He was reunited with the Father, in His Spirit.
Thought to ponder
Your tabernacle in Jesus is assured because of what He Has done for you on the cross.
