Luke 15 1-7 To seek and to save the lost - part I The lost sheep 11 He has brought us home
02Feb2020 - *He has brought us home* - _Luke 15:1-7_ - Bible reading: _I Peter 2:9-10_
_Luke 15:4-6 โWhat man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? (5) And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. (6) *And when he comes home*, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'
We have titled the 15th chapter of Luke as *To seek and to save the lost*. This is the heart of God and this is how our heart needs to be too. The Lord was deeply concerned for the Pharisees and the Scribes for they were not in tune with the heart of God, which is to seek and the save the lost. He is God, who seeks us, finds us and carries us. The third thought that emerges in the fifth verse is, God rejoices over us. He seeks and finds us, He carries us, and then He rejoices over us.
God then comes home. This understanding that He now has brought us home is delightful.
_Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, (5) even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),_ This is the first part of our salvation. We were dead but now we are made alive in Jesus. We deserved His wrath but the wrath of God has been set aside, by His grace. The salvation of God goes further.
_(6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,_ We are now made to sit as co-rulers with Christ in the heavenly places. _(7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus._ This rulership with God is not only in this age but also in the age to come. This is the consequence that we have now come home.
He has brought us home so that we will now have the freedom to be zealous for good works, or the works of God, which is to reconcile a lost world back to God. _Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. I Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; (10) who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy._
*Thought to ponder*
```Are you living out of the freedom of having come home?```
